The Lemon Crest ROAR

A Message from Principal Price
Dear Lemon Crest Families,
Sending our newsletter a day early to remind you that we have our February All-School Assembly tomorrow at 8am on the blacktop! Also, there is no school on Monday, February 9 for Lincoln's Day!
On Wednesday night, I went to the Rodeo Association to present about one of our dream projects that we have - to get a nature observation deck! As you know, this year at Lemon Crest, our schoolwide theme is Planting Possibilities, which is our focus on intentionally creating spaces and experiences that help every child grow. Guided by this theme, we are excited to launch campus beautification projects that cultivate curiosity, pride, and connection for our students. One of these projects is a Nature Observation Deck! This accessible outdoor learning space will allow students to observe the natural world, engage in hands-on science and literacy experiences, and develop a deeper connection to the land and community around them. For many of our students, this opportunity will help plant new interests, confidence, and a sense of possibility. Since we are a TK–5 Title I school that proudly serves a diverse student population, including the district’s only Moderate–Severe Special Day Class program, it is our goal to provide enriching, inclusive opportunities for all students.
The picture below is what we hope to get, as well as mounted binoculars and a set of binoculars that students can use! We're hoping to have a ramp installed instead of or in addition to the stairs. The second picture is where we're envisioning the nature deck will be placed!
I wanted to give a very special shout out to some people for joining at the meeting: Landon, one of our 5th graders, showed so much bravery and leadership in presenting to the crowd of what looked like over 50-60 people! Landon rocked it, and we’re so so proud of you! Another big shout out to Ms Fuchs, our phenomenal Art Instructor, for helping us with so many of our dream projects this year and to Mrs Dennis, Ms T and Mrs Harper for coming out to support! I love our Lions and our school, and I’m so excited to see if we can get donations to make our project dreams come true.
Families, if your company or organization donates to schools for projects, please let me know! We are always looking for community partnerships to support our school!
Take care,
Jen Price
Lemon Crest Principal

Contacting Teachers & Principal Price
If you have a question or concern about your child, we encourage you to speak with your child's teacher first. Please note that during the instructional day, teachers and staff may not be able to respond to your message, email or call since they are busy doing what they do best: teaching! Your child's teacher will respond to you when they are able. Thank you for understanding!
Contacting Principal Price:
Email: jprice@lsusd.net
Call the Front Office: (619) 390-2527 - The front office staff will take a message, and Principal Price will call you when she is available
In-Person: Call the office so Mrs. Whitehurst or Ms. Madina can help us set up a meeting so I can dedicate time to you!
Many of your questions may be answered in our Lemon Crest Family Handbook A-Z . We ask that all families read this.
Please know that there is a 24-48 hour "grace period" in my response time. When I respond, call or meet with you, I need time to get informed in order to have possible answers to your questions. I am prioritizing getting to know our students so I can support their success and am often not readily available in the office. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Theme for the Year: Planting Possibility
This year, our school's theme is Planting Possibility, inspired by the children's book, Curious Garden, written by Peter Brown. Click the link below for a read-aloud of the book by Principal Price!
