MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

CHS COMMUNITY,

It's been a very spirited week at CHS, and I'm confident that energy will carry right into the weekend!

HOCO TICKETING

I sincerely apologize for the ticketing "fiascos" some of you experienced. The ticketing service unfortunately had several ordering "glitches," most of which were out of our control. We will definitely review the entire process for future school events to help prevent this from happening again.

GAME DAY COMMUNICATION

Please be sure to review the email I sent out earlier regarding parking around the stadium tonight. We're looking forward to seeing everyone in the stands for the "BLACK OUT" game!

CRISIS TEAM

The Geauga Crisis Team is offering another debriefing session for anyone who was unable to attend the last meeting. In the days following the Cardinal Mooney vs. Chardon football game, some students and families may still be experiencing emotions or lingering reactions. This session is meant to provide a safe space for additional support.

When: Tuesday, September 30 at 6:00 p.m.
Where: Chardon High School

Small group discussions will be available for adults, teens, and children.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Joan Blackburn at (440) 285-4057 ext. 1710 or joan.blackburn@chardonschools.org.

HOMECOMING EXPECTATIONS

To make sure everyone has a fun and safe time at the Homecoming dance, please review these important rules.

  • Follow School Rules: All school rules from the student handbook apply at the dance.

  • Respectful Behavior: Students and guests must be respectful to everyone, including staff and chaperones.

  • Dance & PDA: No sexually explicit or provocative dancing is allowed. Please avoid excessive public displays of affection.

  • Substance-Free Event: The use or possession of alcohol, tobacco, or other controlled substances is strictly prohibited. Students suspected of being under the influence will be removed from the dance and may face serious consequences, including expulsion and legal action.

  • Guests: Only Chardon High School students and approved guests between the ages of 14-20 are allowed to attend. No 8th graders or guests over the age of 20 may attend.

  • Dance Boundaries: Students must stay within the designated dance areas: the front entrance by the King Kone truck, the cafeteria, the 200's bathrooms, and the gymnasium. If a student leaves these areas, they will not be allowed back in.

  • Leaving Early: Students can leave the dance after 9:30 PM. To leave earlier, a parent or guardian must provide authorization.

  • Consequences: Students who violate the Code of Conduct will receive one verbal warning. A second violation will result in being asked to leave the dance without a refund. Being removed from the dance may also impact future school dance privileges and disciplinary action.

Disclaimer:

Please note that the Homecoming events will feature fog and CO₂ water vapor machines, confetti blasters, flashing lights, and other special effects. Students who may be sensitive to these effects should plan accordingly. Get ready to show your school spirit, cheer for the court, and make Homecoming 2025 unforgettable!

Enjoy your weekend!

Mr. Tomco

CHARDON CARE CLOSET CHARDON CARE CLOSET

We are open! The Chardon Care Closet is a safe place where students can walk in and take whatever hygiene and/or school supplies they need. No questions will be asked. We want this space to be a safe, yet respectful environment for all students. If there are any issues or questions please see one of us.

The Chardon Care Closet is located in the 300’s wing where the old math office used to be / across from the kitchen(room 305). If students are not comfortable enough to just walk in you will see a request form below.

All hygiene and school supplies have been donated from the community. If you would like to donate any items please see the attached slide show for ideas and drop donations off to Megan, Kelly, or Joan. We have also created an Amazon Wish List that will be mailed directly to the school for the Care Closet. This must be documented and approved by the board so please do not just add items to our stock.

    GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT

    10TH GRADERS FUTURE PATHWAYS

This week, Mrs. Hillman visited 10th-grade English classes to discuss important post-high school options and graduation requirements. Students accessed resources through their Class of 2028 Google Classroom, including information on the new Academic Honors Diploma, descriptions of graduation seals, and a link to Naviance.

Students were reintroduced to Naviance, the district's college, career, and life readiness platform. They learned about its various tools for exploring personalities and career interests. During the lesson, students brainstormed and tentatively selected their postsecondary goals and began working on their resumes.

We encourage students to continue using Naviance on their own to explore potential careers, search for colleges, or simply learn more about themselves. Please take a moment to ask your student about their post-high school plans and have them show you their Naviance profile.

Mrs. Hillman will continue these lessons throughout the year. If you have any specific questions about helping your student navigate their goals for life after high school, please don't hesitate to reach out to her.

    LAKE COUNTY COLLEGE FAIR

Lakeland Community College along with Lake Erie College are hosting a Lake County Fall College Fair.

This is the area's only fall college fair that is free and open to the public!

Please encourage your students to attend and get a jump start on their college options. Currently there are 55 colleges that will be in attendance to answer questions.

This event is Sunday, October 5 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will be held at Lakeland Community College in the Athletic & Fitness Center.

    PSAT REGISTRATION

Chardon High School will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT on Monday, October 13th, at 8:00 am. This will be the only opportunity for PSAT testing at Chardon High School this year.

The PSAT/NMSQT provides valuable benefits for students, including practice for national standardized testing, a change to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program, and insights into their college readiness. If you are a 10th or 11th grade student interested in taking advantage of these opportunities, please make sure to register in advance using the form provided below.
