Weekly Wolf Update
September 19, 2025
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
After schhol club assignments were sent home yesterday or today. We had an outstanding interest in clubs! Please note that many students had to be placed on a waitlist because we can only run as many clubs as teachers create. Students are placed on a first come first serve basis. We are always open to any parents who would like to voluntarily run an afterschool club. If interested in doing so for next year, please reach out to Mrs. Fergus.
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month
Sign up for a library card at Fremont Library! Library cards are important for students to have. One of the fantastic perks is that students can log on to tutor.com and take practice tests, work one-on-one with a tutor, or receive homework help. It is a fantastic resource that is completely free, and available in both English and Spanish.
Mundelein Fire Department Open House
The Mundelein Fire Department is hosting an Open House on September 28th. See the flyer and schedule below.
A Note from our Reading Teachers
Book Choice Matters
“If we want children to see reading as anything more than a school job, we must give them the chance to choose their own books and develop personal connections to reading, or they never will.”
Donalyn Miller, The Book Whisperer
Here are some suggestions to empower children when reading:
Encourage kids to read a variety of genres
Reading different genres will not only keep them interested but also help them decide what it is they enjoy reading.
Have a diverse library of books
Show kids similarities and differences between characters and the world around them.
Read a book series
Children can invest in character and story development
over time.
Visit the school and public library
Give students opportunities to explore a variety of books.
Listen to audiobooks while in the car or at home
Give children the opportunities to listen and enjoy a variety of stories. Also allows children to visualize and use their imagination.
MHS Student Tutors
MHS student tutors will host Tutor Time at Fremont Public Library once-a-month from 6-7 pm starting Wed., Sept 10. English and Spanish-speaking tutors will be available to help students of all ages. Please see the flyers below.
A Note from Mrs. Sheedy (Project Challenge)
What is Project Challenge?
Project challenge is a math enrichment program for students who already have a good understanding of the math skills taught in a particular unit. It is a pull-out program where a small group of students work together to solve challenging tasks. These tasks relate to what is being taught in the classroom. STAR testing, teacher observations, and teacher recommendations determine participation. If your child qualified, you should have received an email from me last week. Please remember that this is a flexible program. Students enter and exit based on their individual needs, test scores, teacher observations, and STAR data history. Students see me for 30 minutes, twice a week. All students will work on challenging, yet engaging tasks relating to concepts/standards for that particular math unit. Fourth and fifth grade students will join my Google Classroom by the end of the month. There are puzzles, games, and other activities that will challenge them at home. Third graders will get the activities sent home. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year in project challenge.
A Note from our Social Workers
As children get older, many parents start to feel like they are losing their child to screens and peers. As kids grow, they naturally start reaching for independence. But it can leave us parents feeling sidelined—like we’re losing our chance to guide them or we’re losing a special place in their lives. However, a parents’ connection with their child is what keeps you a positive influence in their lives. When that bond is strong, your child is more likely to listen, open up, and let you guide them through the ups and downs of growing up.
Starting a new school year is always full of jitters for parents and kids. Both are wondering how they will like their teacher, what their favorite subject will be, and will they make new friends? Instead of dwelling on the unknowns, we can focus on the adventures awaiting them. Instead of asking closed questions like: “Did you have a good day?” or “Did you learn anything interesting?”, where the answers are most likely going to be “yes” or “no”. We ask open ended questions like: “What are you most excited to learn about?” or, “What are your biggest wishes for this school year?”
To guide your child towards embracing the upcoming school year with optimism, we have attached a visual to assist with an example of what your household’s manifesto might or could look like. It's a little reminder for kids to learn from mistakes, grow each day, make new friends, and always be proud of who they are. Of course, feel free to create your own manifesto and goals towards this school year. Use this resource as inspiration or print it for your household.
Display this manifesto anywhere your child will see it in the mornings before school begins.

Bilingual Parent Advisory Council (BPAC)
District 75 has established a Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC). A BPAC is a state-required committee when a district or school has a bilingual education program, including a Dual Language program. The purpose of this state required committee is to help facilitate communication between the bilingual parents and the district and to provide opportunities to discuss/provide input on the Dual Language and Multilingual programs. This district-wide committee is composed of families and community members whose children are enrolled in the Dual Language or Multilingual Programs, D75 teachers, Parent Coordinators from each school, and the Director of Linguistic Programs.
The BPAC meets regularly beyond the required four times per year. BPAC plans for family engagement, family education, and cultural events to support the multilingual community. The group creates specific goals each year based on identified family needs, discusses multilingual programs by building, suggests additional topics for upcoming parent education programs and reviews the district’s annual TBE/TPI application.
Please consider joining our BPAC and attending the meetings.
