A Message from the Principal
Dear JSC Community,
We would like to send a GIANT shout-out to all students, families, and PTO members, for participating in our 'Teacher and Staff Appreciation' activities last week! Our staff members were overjoyed by the kind and generous gestures of appreciation! It warmed our hearts to see students happily walking into school with handmade cards, drawings, and small tokens of gratitude for a teacher or staff member!
This week, our kindergarten and fourth grade students (and staff) are working hard to practice for their upcoming shows. These year-end performances are a celebration of the students' accomplishments throughout their time here at JSC. These events are a true highlight of the school year, and create lasting memories!
Don't forget that the PASD Art Show and JSC PTO Basket Raffle are happening this Friday, May 17th, at JSC! We hope to see you here! As always, thanks for helping to make JSC the place to be!

JSC Summer Learning Program
- The JSC Summer Learning Program is an invitational program targeted at students (currently in K through 4) who would benefit from a review of foundational reading and math skills.
- Invitations will go out this week. All parents / guardians will be contacted no later than this Friday, May 17th.
- Please note that the summer program is designed to target students who are working toward mastery of foundational reading and math skills.
- If you feel your child would benefit from attending but do not receive communication by Friday, May 17th, please reach out to your child's teacher next week to express that you are interested in having your child attend.
Schuylkill Achieve Summer Program
Join us at John S. Clarke Elementary School this summer for a free summer program filled with entrichment activities and presenters! More information below!

Friday, May 17th - Shop and Drop (Same night as the PASD Art Show) from 5PM to 9PM.
Saturday, May 18th - 9AM to 5PM (Winners will be pulled at 5PM)
Sunday, May 19th - Prize pickup 8AM to 12PM

3rd and 4th Grade Dance
Back by popular demand! On Friday, May 31st, JSC PTO and PBIS will sponsor the second annual end of year dance for third and fourth grade students! This year's theme is 'Glowing into Summer!' Please note this is an after school event from 6M to 8PM and is for 3rd and 4th grade students only.
PASD Art Show at JSC - May 17th
The Pottsville Area School District Art Show will be held on Friday, May 17th at John S. Clarke Elementary Center, from 6PM to 9PM.

Spartan Games Parade at JSC
JSC student athletes had an amazing time at this year's Spartan Games! Prior to the game day, students participated in our second annual 'Spartan Games Parade' at JSC. The parade featured student athletes from PASD, PAHS Band and PAHS Cheerleaders. Pottsville Police Chief Morrow served as Grand Marshal. Check out the video!
Slime Time
At JSC, school attendance matters! Each month, we strive to create a quick, fun, out-of-the-ordinary activity to encourage students to come to school each and EVERY day (unless they are sick, of course)! These short bursts of fun are designed to add a BIG burst of extraordinary fun with minimal distruption to instruction. Attendance Matters Celebrations - Another reason why JSC is the place to be!
