Garden Scientists

Students in Grade 1 enjoyed their second week of working with our friends from Cornucopia! Our lesson focused on learning about garden animals that are helpful and not so helpful and why. They were given opportunities to get up close to nature and some students liked to be much closer than others! See if your child can find some of the same ones this weekend with you in your garden!

Learning the Drill

Our third and fourth grade students lead the school in a fire drill practice on Friday. Our student leaders modeled expected behaviors and had the opportunity to ask questions and make observations. This drill was done without the alarm this time, but next week we will practice one with the alarm so we are prepared. Chief Kullgren will be present to review our work and guide us in fine tuning our safety procedures. Thank you, Chief!

Assessments begin next week!

Please ensure that your child gets plenty of rest, nutrition and time to relax at home beginning next week during our assessment week(s). Students in grades K-4 will be taking online assessments and it will be important that we ensure a low key week for them. We plan to support students with multiple break options throughout the day to ensure their best work. Once assessments are completed, we plan to review the data nd begin instructional groupings across the school for targeted learning opportunities that meet the needs of our students at FES. Reach out with any questions, concerns or wonderings. As always, thank you for your partnership!
