Hello Wildwood Families,

Halloween is just around the corner as October rolls along, and the excitement is building! We’re thrilled to invite everyone to our 2nd Annual Wildwood Avenue Community Parade. Come out on Halloween morning to see our amazing Wildwood Wildthings dressed in creative costumes! It’s sure to be a morning full of fun and cuteness, and we’d love to see you there to cheer on our students! You won’t want to miss the cuteness overload!

A few reminders for the day:

  • Students can wear their costumes to school for the parade, but they’ll change into regular clothes after the parade to keep the day running smoothly.
  • Please make sure costumes are safe and appropriate for school. We ask that there be no masks or props (especially weapons) as part of the costumes, to ensure everyone has a fun and safe experience.

Don't forget to stop by the Dad’s Club Pumpkin Patch for some of the best pumpkins in town, including unique heirloom gourds. Whether you're looking to carve a jack-o'-lantern or decorate for fall, they've got you covered!

We’re looking forward to celebrating with our Wildwood community and making this Halloween one to remember!

Wishing you all a spooktacular week ahead!

Warmly,

Melissa Daymond

Principal, Wildwood

Health Tips Health Tips

From the Nurses

COVID-19 and Flu Vaccinations are available!

The CDC recommends everyone six months and older get the 2024-25 COVID-19 and flu vaccines for better protection against potentially serious illness. Check with your healthcare provider for appointments and Flu/COVID-19 clinic opportunities! Unfortunately, the Alameda County Shoo the Flu program is no longer offered so we can't bring the flu vaccine to the school sites as had been done in the past.

Need COVID-19 Tests?

If you need COVID-19 Rapid Antigen tests, households can order them NOW! Here is the link to order your free tests!

If you have any questions, please email us at: nurses@piedmont.k12.ca.us

Wildwood Parents Club Wildwood Parents Club

We want to acknowledge the important work done by members of the Wildwood community (both parents and staff) and PUSD administration recently to build trust, foster communication and resolve conflicts within the school community.

We learned along with the parent community of Principal Daymond’s resignation, and would like to acknowledge her work and service to Wildwood. Many have approached us with questions; as this is an administrative matter, we encourage you to communicate directly with Ms. Daymond and/or PUSD Superintendent Jennifer Hawn.

As we seek continued ways to move forward together, we’d like to invite you to the PUSD School Board Candidates Forum from 6:30-8pm Oct. 22 in the Wildwood Library. This event, hosted by the TriSchool parent clubs, is an opportunity to hear from candidates about elementary-specific matters. Please send along your questions in advance to WPC.

In gratitude,

Victoria Manley Thompson & Amy Griffith

The Pumpkin Patch is open, and the Giant Jack has arrived!

Many thanks to the over 20 people who volunteered to set up and run the patch this weekend. The patch is open 4 - 6 pm weekdays, and 10 am - 6 pm weekends. We still have over 50 shift vacancies to fill this month, so please volunteer if you haven't already and sign up for 1 or 2 more if you already have. We're also trying a costume swap, bring your old halloween costumes and pick up the gently used ones others have dropped off.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Oktoberfest gathering last Friday. It was a fun filled evening and a great way to kick-off the Pumpkin patch! Let's give it up for the Zengel family for hosting Oktoberfest again - we appreciate you!

Next meeting: 10/2, 7:30 pm, Cato's Ale House on Piedmont Ave.

Family Photo Opportunity

Join us at the Patch this Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. for a special family photo opportunity! A professional photographer will be on-site at Coach’s Field to capture your family’s perfect pumpkin patch moment. Don’t miss out! But if you can’t make it, no worries—we’ll try to offer more chances in the coming weekends!

PEF Presents $4,039,957 Check to PUSD

At the school board meeting on September 25, 2024, the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) proudly presented a giant check for $4,039,957 to the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD). This record-breaking grant represents a year of dedicated fundraising and highlights the incredible support from our community.

Funds were raised through the Giving Campaign, Spring Fling, Harvest Festival, Dress Best for Less, business sponsorships, and a bequest from former teacher Pamela Wells Rafanelli. The grant will fund classroom technology, phonics curriculum books, and playground initiatives.

94% of the funds will support the salaries of essential educators, while 6% is designated for curriculum development, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives, professional development, and classroom supplies.

PEF thanks all donors, volunteers, and supporters and encourages everyone to participate in this year’s Giving Campaign at PiedmontEdFoundation.org/donate.
