Counseling Updates:
Welcome to another great year at Grandview! We are looking forward to starting the new school year with you.
- Find your counselor here : Counselors are available to students throughout the school day on a walk in basis (counselors will see students if available), or by appointment (using the link above). We can meet in-person or via Teams, as needed. We look forward to working with you and your student/s throughout the year. Parents/guardians are welcome to use the above link to schedule an appointment, as well.
- You may notice your student has been assigned to Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Seminar courses. Students will receive weekly updates from the counseling office on their seminar page through Schoology and will be supported by completing various tasks pertaining to academic, personal/social, and post-secondary planning throughout the school year. The counselor assigned to your student is the teacher of this course. This class does not meet in-person or receive a grade.
- Counseling/Post Grad hosted a College Information workshop on Monday, August 31st. You can find all the information that was presented on our website at: https://grandview.cherrycreekschools.org/students/counselingpost-grad/evening-events/college-information-workshop
- Remember to visit the counseling/post grad website for important information and updates:
Updates for Seniors
Counselors will be visiting senior English classrooms on 9/1 & 9/2 to discuss next steps in post-secondary planning. This will include how to request a transcript, letters of recommendation, and the college application process. Please delay requests for official transcripts and individual counseling meetings regarding college applications until 9/8. We will also discuss workforce and military opportunities.
Letters of Recommendation:
1. Student meets with Counselor or Post-grad Specialist to request a Letter of Recommendation Form (Pink Sheet)
a. Before this, student should have Common App linked to Naviance/colleges added AND they should check to see how many letters each college accepts.
2. Student will complete the Letter of Recommendation Questionnaire for their teacher/counselor. (You can find this in Schoology)
3. Student will meet with their teacher/counselor to request the letter and hand them the pink sheet and the completed (printed) questionnaire on schoology.
4. The teacher will upload the student’s letter into Naviance once completed (they will not give it to the student).
(Be aware of Fall, Thanksgiving, Winter Break. Counselors/Teachers DO NOT work during school breaks).
Transcript Deadlines: Transcript request forms MUST be submitted to Ms. Gabica in the Post Grad Center no later than 10 school days/2 weeks prior to the College/University deadline. The responsibility lies with the student to track deadlines and ensure they are doing all of the steps in advance of the deadlines.
