Message From the Principal Message From the Principal

Dear Wildwood Families,

It was wonderful to see many of you last week at the first Parents Club Meeting of the year and at the Welcome Back BBQ hosted by the Dads’ Club. These community building events are incredibly important and they also take a lot of planning and work. Thank you to all of you who helped to pull off these events so that our community could come together.

This year, we have another opportunity for you to be involved. In the past, the Tri-Schools have had one School Site Council. This year, each of the tri-schools will have their own School Site Council. I am looking for 3-4 parents/guardians who would be willing to be on Wildwood’s School Site Council. The School Site Council is composed of administrators, teachers, classified staff, and parents. We meet to look at data, review the work that is currently being done at the site, and, then, create goals for our continued growth as a school. We meet 5-6 times during the school year for approximately an hour each time and the meetings will take place after school. If you are interested, please fill out this form by Friday, September 5th. California Ed. Code requires us to hold an election for parent members. Once I have received all interest forms, a ballot will be sent out to all families for our election. Once the ballots have been tallied and our committee has been formed, we will start our meetings for the year.

Tomorrow night is Back to School Night. This is the time to meet your child’s teacher, if you haven’t already, and to learn all about what your child will be learning and doing in school this year. The schedule for tomorrow night is as follows:

  • Kindergarten-2nd Grade: 6:00-6:30 PM

  • 3rd Grade-5th Grade: 6:30-7:00 PM

Please remember that this is an adult only event and tomorrow all students will be dismissed at noon. Hot lunch will be given to students who pre-ordered at dismissal. Students who bring lunch from home do not need to pack a lunch tomorrow.

As a reminder, please remember that everyone who comes on to campus should enter through the front door of the school. While I know it is tempting, please do not ask students or staff to let you in on the lower playground or on the kindergarten yard. And, students can not leave the school without being signed out in the office. These protocols are essential to keeping our school community safe. We appreciate your help with this.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night. Thank you for your continued support.

With gratitude and appreciation,

Amy Fry

Parents Club Update Parents Club Update

Be on the lookout for WPC at BTSN on Thursday! We’ll have a table where parents can ask any parent-club questions as well as share ideas for community and fundraising events for Wildwood.

WPC is here for you, the families, and we want to help make happen the events you’d like to see take place! A donation drive? OK! A special fundraising idea? We’re all ears.

Not only are we eager to hear your ideas, but WPC relies heavily on the diverse skillsets that our community members bring. Whatever your strength — cooking, planning, marketing, numbers, art/creativity, supporting green efforts, belonging, etc. — there’s a role for you!

Visit our table Thursday and tell us more about you and what you’d like to see take place at Wildwood. And of course, you are always welcome to send us an email.

Save the date: 8:30-9:30a Thursday, 9/18, for the next Community Coffee hosted by WPC’s Welcome Committee and featuring special guests. More info to come!

Harvest Festival 9/21 Harvest Festival 9/21

Attention makers, artists, builders and lovers of the Harvest Festival: It is time to start thinking about Scarecrows!

The 27th annual Piedmont Harvest Festival will be held 11a-3p in Piedmont Park on Sunday, Sept. 21. The theme is "Under the Sea" — think sea creatures, mermaids, sunken pirate ships, and more!

Each year, Piedmont's elementary students gather to design and build incredible scarecrow structures that are auctioned during the Harvest Festival in "Scarecrow Alley" as a fundraiser for the elementary schools.

All proceeds from the scarecrow silent auction and carnival are directed by the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) to the tri-schools (Wildwood, Beach and Havens). Last year’s event raised $28,000 to help fund art, music, theater and counseling services.

  • Wildwood needs volunteers to help lead their classes in creating a scarecrow. Reach out to your class’s room parent(s) if you are interested in getting involved. We need helpers with all kinds of skills — builders, organizers, suppliers, transporters and cheerleaders all welcome!

  • PEF needs volunteers to help run stations at the festival: The Piedmont Education Foundation can also use lots of hands for set-up, running carnival games, clean-up, and more – middle and high schoolers are encouraged to join in too and can earn volunteer hours. A signup link from PEF is forthcoming, be on the lookout!

Questions? Please email your Wildwood Harvest Festival reps, Carolyn Pan and Vic Manley.

If you’ve never been to Harvest Festival before, enjoy some photos of past Scarecrow Alleys (attached) to get an idea!
