The Cole Porter score includes popular hits such as “It's Delovely,” “Friendship,” “You're the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and the title song, “Anything Goes."

This year's spring musical production includes 35 student actors, over 20 student crew members, and 20 student musicians.

‘Mustangs For A Cure’ Raises Record Amount for Blood Cancer United ‘Mustangs For A Cure’ Raises Record Amount for Blood Cancer United

For the past two months, a team of 20 Strongsville High School students, led by Eric Dubsky, Anna Placeway, and Emily Polo, have been fundraising for Blood Cancer United in the annual Student Visionaries Program. They sent over 1,000 letters to local businesses, civic organizations, friends, and family; created multiple events at our schools and at area businesses; and networked extensively to raise money for this important cause.

Last weekend, the Mustangs For A Cure team were recognized for their efforts at Blood Cancer United’s gala, along with forty (40) other teams from schools around northeast Ohio. Our Strongsville students raised an incredible $218,498, smashing their goal of $150,000 and breaking the previous Strongsville record by more than $120,000! Even more inspiring, the combined fundraising total for northeast Ohio was a record-setting $1.9 million!

Mustangs for a Cure is incredibly grateful for the amazing support from the local community, athletic teams, school staff and students, and area businesses who helped make this possible. It truly shows what can happen when a community comes together for a great cause. THANK YOU to all who helped support this campaign!

The Polaris Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management team won the 2026 Ohio ProStart Invitational state title after a seven-year absence, earning the right to compete at the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore. Three Strongsville High School students - Stephen Gillespie, Teagan Leske, and Logan Zawie - were key members of the championship team, which prepared an impressive three-course gourmet meal under strict time and equipment constraints (no ovens or electrical items were permitted!). The winning menu featured tarragon butter-poached lobster, seared coffee-spiced Angus beef, and dark chocolate Bavarian dessert. Congratulations and best of luck next month in Baltimore!

Strongsville was well represented last week at the Northeastern Ohio Science & Engineering Fair (NEOSEF) held at Lakeland Community College. Over the course of the school year, SHS honors biology & chemistry students designed their own independent research project, conducted research, and wrote a formal report analyzing their results. Students also had the option to construct a trifold and present their work to the judges in the NEOSEF competition. There were also a number of students who chose to participate with research tied to their chemistry class.

Three SMS students - Anitudh Varigonda, Hasini Senthil Kumar, and Harshith Nelabhotla - also participated, with Harshith winning the Grand Prize in Physical Science categories competition! Anitudh earned third place and Hasini received an Honorable Mention in their respective categories.

See below for the SHS students who also earned awards.

zoom_out_map

Surrarrer Elementary's 3rd grade classes engaged in a student-driven service project centered on their Social Studies unit about communities, ultimately choosing to support the Berea ARF Animal Shelter and Rescue. Students identified the shelter's needs, organized a donation drive collecting over 100 items including leashes, collars, and pet food, and created promotional materials entirely on their own to encourage family and community participation. As a special “thank you” for their efforts, ARF opened early for a special Saturday visit where approximately 30 students and families toured the facility, read to cats, and created enrichment boxes for dogs. This project helped build student leadership and provided an opportunity for students to move from classroom learning about communities to directly experiencing their own positive community impact!

Colton Kieckbusch is the Head Custodian at Kinsner Elementary School. Colton attended Strongsville City Schools and is an SHS grad (Class of 2019). He has worked in our District the past five years and was part of the custodial team at Strongsville High School, before moving over to Kinsner.

“I enjoy being part of a great culture at Kinsner. Everyone is very close in our building and I feel like this is my second family. This gives me a sense of purpose and pride, and it helps me to continue to grow and develop every day.”

Seven SHS Students Headed to States in National History Day Competition Seven SHS Students Headed to States in National History Day Competition

Earlier this month, seventeen Strongsville High School students competed at the regional level of the National History Day Competition. Each student spent between 70-100 hours researching and creating projects based on history topics of their choice. The students chose to spend their weekends and evenings learning about different historical events, analyzing primary sources and implementing feedback for revision. They were responsible for creating museum exhibits or documentaries and giving an oral defense on their topic. Based on their scores in this regional competition, seven students from SHS are headed to the State Competition in Columbus on April 18th.

According to their advisor, SHS Social Studies teacher
Mrs. Eric Powell: “This is a small, but incredible group of kids who are exhibiting what it means to be a Model Mustang. They helped, encouraged, and held each other accountable while creating the best projects Strongsville has ever brought to the competition. I am so proud of all of them and am looking forward to a great state showing this spring!”
