Playground Availability After School
Dear Roosevelt Families,
We want to remind you that our ACES School Age Child Care Program uses the school playground as part of its daily programming. To ensure a safe and structured environment for ACES students, the playground is reserved for their use until the program ends at 6:00 p.m.
After 6:00 p.m., the playground is open to the public. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and supportive space for all students.
If you’re looking for alternative play spaces before 6:00 p.m., the City of Mankato provides a list of parks here, and a map of North Mankato parks can be found here.
Thank you for your understanding and support!
Michelle Kruize, Principal
2025-2026 Calendar Adjustment
The MAPS School Board will be adopting a revised 2025-2026 school calendar in order to provide additional time for construction in the summer of 2026.
On March 4th, a proposal was shared with the school community that outlined changes to next year’s calendar. Since that time, another option has been identified that would end the school year even sooner, eliminating the need to start the 2026-27 school year a week after Labor Day.
On Monday, March 17, the School Board met and discussed the attached 2025-26 calendar option that would:
Start the school year before Labor Day.
Hold school on November 25, November 26, January 2, March 13, March 23, April 1 and April 2.
Hold Parent-Teacher conferences during the evenings in November and March and move the ‘no school days’ associated with conference days (teacher comp days) to the end of the school year.
Set the last day of school as follows:
- Elementary: Monday, May 18, 2026
- Middle: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
- High School: Thursday, May 21, 2026 (graduation)
The School Board is scheduled to determine next school year’s calendar at their meeting on April 7.
No Excel After School on Tuesday, March 25. Excel resumes on April 1st.
Grades 3-5 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs)
The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are annual tests in reading, mathematics, and science, based on Minnesota Academic Standards, to measure what students should know at each grade level. All students in Minnesota districts and charter schools take the MCAs, with reading and math tests given in grades 3–8 and high school (grade 10 for reading, grade 11 for math), and the science test administered in grades 5, 8, and in high school when students take a life science or biology course. The MCAs are primarily taken online, though some students with an Individualized Educational Program (IEP) or 504 plan may use a paper version.
MCA Testing will take place at Roosevelt in April. Please see the testing dates below for your child's grade level. More specific information will come from your child's teacher as the testing window approaches.
3, 4, 5 Grade Reading: April 14-17
3, ,4, 5 Grade Math: April 21-24
5th Grade Science: April 29 and 30
You can help your child be successful by ensuring they get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and encouraging them to do their best!
