Message from Principal Gaffney

Dear Charger Community,

Spring has brought with it volatile weather, unfortunately impacting several of our families. As a community, we unite in times of need to support one another. We ask for your generous assistance for the Vest family, whose home was destroyed in the recent tornado that affected the region. Donations can be made at The Ole Flower Shoppe located at 201 S. 7th ST. Petersburg, IN 47567, or Go Fund Me: https://gofund.me/c9db0abe

Our students and staff anticipate a restorative Spring Break. Upon our return, we will proceed with the preparations for Prom and graduation, marking the conclusion of another academic year. We extend our sincere gratitude for the continued support from our community.

Fiddler on the Roof

62 students and staff members from Pike Central High School just got done with their performance of the musical Fiddler On the Roof. Due to the power outage, our showtimes were Friday, March 14 at 7:00pm, Sunday, March 16 at 2:00pm, and our final show on Sunday, March 16 at 7:00pm. Students enjoyed their Cast Party in between the 2 shows on Sunday. They did a wonderful job in a chaotic winter musical season! Mrs. Traylor and Mrs. Loveless are so proud of the amazing talent of our Pike Central students!

Academic Contest

  • 12 students recently competed in the OCU Scholastic Competition by testing their academic knowledge in 12 subject areas.
  • Individual medals were awarded to the top 3 students in each subject. Eli Arnold earned the bronze medal in Economics and Tyler DeCoursey earned the silver medal in Chemistry.

Community-Based Outing

Mr. Morris took his students on a Community-Based outing last week. The student started off visiting Oakland City University to learn more on money management skills. They also went to the Post Office to learn more about the process of mail delivery and other aspects of the postal system. Students were well-behaved, had fun and learned a lot!

National Tooling and Machining Association Competition

Congratulations to Adon LeMond for his 3rd place finish in the Indiana chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Associations (INTMA) machining competition at Vincennes University. He competed in the CNC Milling area of the contest. Adon won a toolbox and an assortment of machinists tools. Keep it up, Adon!

FCCLA Strawberry Fundraiser

The FCCLA hosted a strawberry fundraiser, the semi came Tuesday unloading 140 flats of strawberries. We immediately started working on washing 200 dozen (2,400) strawberries that the students then dried, hand-dipped, drizzled, cooled, and packaged Tuesday evening and all of Wednesday. Words can not express the level of hard work that these students put into this fundraiser. I am beyond proud and blessed to have them as students!

Biomedical Science

Apryl Gogel and Ariel Eck from Triology visited our Biomedical Sciences students to discuss an incredible new partnership between Amber Manor and Pike Central! This collaboration will provide CNA training and more, giving students real-world healthcare experience before graduation. With great interest from our students, this program is set to open doors for future healthcare professionals!

JAG

Congratulations to our students in the JAG competition at the Career Development Conference. Aubree McGowan received 3rd place with her brochure, Emily Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, Riley Mosby, and Ayden Young received 2nd place with their commercial, and Kaitlyn Clark received 1st place in Outstanding Senior and will advance to State CDC in March.

Applied Music Class

Blaine Watson brought in his new bass guitar and played for the class. He did a wonderful job showcasing his talent!
