A Message From Dr. Herman
We are excited to see you at parent-teacher conferences! These meetings are a great opportunity to connect, celebrate your child’s successes, discuss progress, and work together to support their continued growth.
At Myhre Elementary, we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential to student success. When families and teachers work together, communicate openly, and share a common goal, we create the best possible environment for students to learn, grow, and thrive. Your insights, questions, and involvement are important, and we value the opportunity to work alongside you in supporting your child.
We encourage you to use this time to ask questions, share information about your child, and discuss ways we can continue working together to help them succeed both academically and socially. Every child has unique strengths and needs, and our partnership helps us better understand how to support each student.
Thank you for being an important part of the Myhre community and for trusting us with your child’s education. We appreciate your support and look forward to connecting with you during conferences!
Dress for the Weather!
As cooler temperatures arrive, please make sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather. Dressing in layers helps students stay comfortable both indoors and outdoors throughout the day.
Please remember to send a jacket with your child for outdoor recess. As temperatures continue to drop, students will also need hats, gloves, snow pants, and boots to stay warm during outdoor play.
We want all of our students to enjoy recess while staying safe and warm! Thank you for helping your child come prepared for the changing weather.

Data Driven Instruction
Growing Together Through Data-Driven Instruction!
Dear Myhre Families,
Our teachers recently spent time diving deeply into our Beginning-of-the-Year assessment data to better understand each student’s strengths, areas for growth, and individual learning needs. By combining assessment results with classroom observations and their knowledge of each child, teachers worked collaboratively to create meaningful instructional groups and plan targeted interventions to help every student continue moving forward.
This process takes a great deal of time, thoughtful planning, collaboration, and dedication, and we are so proud of the hard work our teachers put into ensuring that instruction meets the needs of all learners. From identifying specific skills to providing additional support and finding opportunities to extend learning, our teachers are committed to helping every student grow.
We are excited to see the progress our students will make as these plans come to life in the classroom! We look forward to celebrating the growth, learning, and accomplishments that will come from the intentional work happening every day at Myhre.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help every Mustang learn, grow, and succeed!

BPS Bond Referendum: What It Means for Jeannette Myhre Elementary School
On November 3, 2026, Bismarck voters will consider a $116.5 million bond referendum to address significant facility needs across Bismarck Public Schools.
The revised proposal is approximately $10.5 million less than the measure considered in June. It focuses on four priorities across the district:
- Keep Students Safe
- Create Better Learning Spaces
- Expand Student Opportunities
- Preserve Our Investment
The projects included in the proposal were identified through BPS's multi-year facilities-planning process, which included professional building assessments, enrollment and demographic analysis, community feedback, and public discussion.
What This Means for Myhre
If the bond is approved, planned projects at our school include:
- New front office and entry area for upgraded security
- Improvements to parent pick-up areas and traffic flow
- Renovation of music and student service spaces
- Multipurpose space addition and kitchen relocation
- Modernization of heating, cooling, ventilation, and energy systems
- Partial roof replacement
Benefits Throughout the District
The bond proposal includes work at schools throughout BPS. Projects beyond Myhre will affect our students as they move through the district, particularly at the middle and high school levels.
- Wachter Middle School
- There are several planned upgrades to accessibility, restroom and locker room families, ventilation, and more at Wachter Middle School.
- Bismarck High School
- BHS will receive additional classroom space, a modernized and enhanced library, building-wide ventilation upgrades, and more.
- District-Wide
- A new centralized kitchen will improve meal offerings and allow for more local ingredients to be used.
- Additional spaces for public use will become available.
BPS currently maintains 32 buildings and more than 3 million square feet of facility space, with an average school age of approximately 47 years. The district invests about $5 million annually in facility maintenance, but many major projects cannot be completed through existing funding without significantly extending the timeline.
The November bond measure requires 60% voter approval to pass. Families can learn more about the complete proposal, individual school projects, tax implications, and the long-range facilities plan at: http://www.bismarckschools.org/2026bond
