Officers and Board Members Elected Officers and Board Members Elected

Congratulations to NCSPRA's newly-elected board members and officers.

NCSPRA members have elected new chapter officers and board members:

Valerie Newton of Sampson County Schools will serve a second term as NCSPRA’s President. Dr. Tracey Helton of Guilford County Schools was re-elected to a second term as Vice President. Members elected Aarika Sandin of Vance County Schools to become our new Secretary, and Jada Jonas of Iredell-Statesville Schools to serve as Treasurer. All four will begin their one-year terms on June 1, 2025.

NCSPRA members also chose three new board members to serve two-year terms: Heather Louise Finch of Nash County Public Schools, Jessica Sealey of the Public Schools of Robeson County, and Wanda Walker of Guilford County Schools. All will begin their terms on June 1st.

Sheena Cooper (Durham Public Schools) and Lauri Crowder (Onslow County Schools) will continue to serve on the NCSPRA board. Their terms expire May 31, 2026. Other members of the NCSPRA board include State Coordinator Kevin Smith (Orange County Schools), Past President Ken Derksen (Wayne County Public Schools), and Presidential Appointee Jessica Swencki of MyFutureNC.

Current board members, Shayla Cannady and Dr. Lindsay Whitley, will leave the board at the end of May when their terms expire. They have been outstanding board members, and we thank them for their excellent service to NCSPRA.

Please help us welcome our new board members and officers as we look forward to their service and leadership!

NEW RESOURCES AVAILABLE!

Please visit our NCSPRA website to access new resources. We have added the Lunch & Learn recordings to the "Members Only Resources" section of our website. You will find the "Members Only Resources" section underneath the "Resources" tab on the homepage.

The five Lunch & Learn sessions covered highly relevant topics: Absenteeism, Video Production, Dealing with Difficult Parents, School-Family Communications, and Boosting Enrollment. These sessions are now available to all members--even if you did not originally sign up to attend. You can login to the "Members Only Resources" section with your username and password. *Login instructions are included on the login page.

We also added a "Jobs" section to our website. This is where you can browse school PR jobs available in other member districts. If your district has a communications opening that you would like to add to the "Jobs" section, please send the information to ncspra.executivedirector@gmail.com.

Finally, please check out all of the great resources we have available at ncspra.org. It is one of the many benefits of being a member!
