February is Career and Technical Education month. This week we are highlighting our Technical Education and Agriculture Departments which offer our students hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for for careers in agriculture, engineering, and skilled trades. Here's what’s happening in our classrooms:

🌱 Horticulture – Students are resetting our Hydroponics system to grow a fresh crop of lettuce for the high school kitchen! Planning is also underway for our spring greenhouse projects.

🌾 Agriscience – This class is diving into research on Wisconsin and U.S. agricultural commodities while also kicking off our FFA Leadership Unit, building skills in teamwork and industry leadership.

πŸ”¨ Wood Technology & Construction – Students are mastering industry-standard tools, including planers, jointers, table saws, bandsaws, and circular saws, as they develop their woodworking and construction skills.

πŸ„ Animal Science (Dual Credit with FVTC) – Students have successfully completed units on Farm Safety and Animal Handling and are now beginning their Dairy Unit, gaining real-world knowledge in livestock management.

From engineering to welding, conservation to mechanics, our programs continue to offer valuable, hands-on experiences that set students up for success in their future careers.

CAPP Speech Students Have Some Weighty Fun

The CAPP Speech students had a blast with their first assignment from Mrs. Miller, which was to introduce a classmate using a prop as a metaphor. The prop chosen was a barbell, and students had fun pretending to lift the heavy weight while describing their peers. The fun didn’t stop thereβ€”since the barbell was left in Mrs. Miller’s classroom, other students couldn’t resist getting in on the action, taking turns to β€œlift” the barbell and keep the fun going.

Last Friday night the Den was packed with energy! The boys' basketball team faced off against the Waupaca Comets and came out on top with a 67-50 victory. At halftime, the team took a moment to honor two special groups.

Next, local first responders and police officers were honored for their dedication, bravery, and service. In a heartfelt moment, these community heroes presented Mason with a Winnebago County Challenge Coin for his exceptional actions during an emergency. A big thank you to everyone for all you do!
