Piloting New Curriculum and Reporting Changes
Grade 8 English Language Arts, Grade 9 Social Studies, Grade 7 Social Studies, Grade 9 Math
If your child is in one of the above classes, they will be involved in piloting parts of the proposed curriculum for Alberta Education.
Instead of receiving percentage grades (%) in these classes, students will receive Levels of Achievement that provide information about what they know, understand and can do in relation to curriculum expectations. Students will receive an overall Level of Achievement for the course, as well as Levels of Achievement for individual learning outcomes. This approach is intended to provide families with clearer information about student learning and progress.
While student achievement will be reported differently, learning expectations, classroom instruction, academic rigour and regular feedback from teachers remain the same. This change affects how learning is reported, not what students are expected to learn.
Our school is pleased to be participating in this work as Edmonton Catholic Schools continues to align assessment and reporting practices with Alberta's new curriculum. We look forward to supporting students and families throughout the school year.
To learn more about Levels of Achievement, including frequently asked questions, examples and resources for families, please visit: ecsd.net/loa
If you have questions about your child's learning or about these reporting changes, please contact your child's subject teacher or the school. We would be pleased to assist you.
Transportation - Yellow Bus Reminder
Our Transportation department reminds families to please download the BusPlanner Delays App on their mobile phones to receive late-bus notifications.

Catholic Education Week
From October 17β23, we celebrate the gift of Catholic education and the community it creates!
π Wear Blue on Thursday, October 22 to celebrate Catholic education! Blue symbolizes constancy, fidelity, genuineness, and aspiration, and also holds a special connection to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This yearβs theme, The Power of the Holy Spirit, reminds us that God's presence is at work in our Catholic schools, guiding and strengthening us as we help our students grow in faith and discover their God-given talents.
Together, we celebrate our shared commitment to nurturing our students' minds, hearts, and spirits. #CatholicEducationWeek #ECSDfaithinspires #ECSD
