Five Good Things in Spring

Carl Wunsche Sr. High School is making big moves—again! 🌟 This hands-on learning powerhouse just earned a Gold Ribbon designation from Children at Risk, the only Houston-area high school to achieve this honor twice since the pandemic! 🏆 Students aren’t just hitting the books—they’re building, creating, and innovating. 🏠💡🐾 Whether it’s constructing sheds, treating real patients in their on-campus vet clinic, or mastering industry-level skills, they’re shaping the future with real-world experience. Shoutout to the Wunsche crew for proving that education is more than textbooks—it’s about crafting success. 🚀 Keep raising the bar!

Shoutout to our incredibly talented student artists, Valiance Chibweth from Dekaney High School and Stella Valdez from Northgate Crossing Elementary! These two were recognized at the prestigious Rodeo Houston Art Program Awards, standing out among 90 student artists. Valiance’s dynamic black-and-white rodeo scene and Stella’s vibrant desert landscape are headed to auction on March 16! Let’s celebrate their creativity, dedication, and the way they represent Spring ISD with artistic excellence! 🌟👏

Talk about a spellbinding showdown! The 2025 Spring ISD Spelling Bee had the whole district buzzing as students went head-to-head in a battle of wits, endurance and jaw-dropping vocabulary. After an insane 43 rounds and over 300 words, Bailey Middle’s Mark Peterson and Jenkins Elementary’s Derek Espinal were so good that judges ran out of words! Fast forward to a nail-biting virtual rematch, where Espinal clinched the championship with the winning word: diatribe. Now, he’s headed to the Scripps Regional Bee, with Peterson as the district’s alternate. Huge congrats to both of these bee-yond talented spellers for their determination, sportsmanship, and making this year’s bee one for the hive-story books! 🏅🐝✨Check out the video of the event here!

That’s what we call speedrunning success! 🏃‍♂️💨🎉 Huge shoutout to our newest Momentum High School graduates—y’all put in the work, stayed focused, and now you’re off to bigger and better things.
