From the Senior Leadership Team – Term 4, Week 3

Kia ora TNIS whānau,

It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of week 3; the term is flying by! The energy around the school has been fantastic, with learners training hard for the upcoming Athletics Day. It’s been wonderful to see learners showing their determination and drive while they practice.

As we look ahead, there are plenty of exciting events on the TNIS calendar. Over the coming weeks, learners will participate in Athletics Day, our first-ever Colour Run, Orientation Day for incoming 2026 students, Book Week, and the End-of-Year Disco. Each of these events highlights a different aspect of school life; from sport and creativity to community and connection, and we can’t wait to see the enthusiasm our learners bring to each one.

With the warmer weather returning, it’s great to see more sunshine and outdoor activity. However, this also means we need to stay sun smart. All learners are expected to wear their TNIS hats when outside for morning tea, lunch, or PE. Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly named, and check the notice below for more information about the correct hats and where to get them.

Finally, a reminder to our Year 8 families: please ensure your child is enrolled at their high school for 2026 if you haven't already. High schools are now confirming their class placements and orientation days, so this process must be completed as soon as possible.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. The next few weeks promise to be busy, vibrant, and full of opportunities to celebrate the incredible learners who make up our TNIS community.

Ngā mihi nui,
The TNIS Senior Leadership Team

We are beginning to see a positive change in the weather, and with this comes increased time in the sun. TNIS encourages all learners to wear their school hats at break times and during PE and fitness. Learners must wear a completely plain blue or black hat without a logo. These are available via Kindo or from the Warehouse. We also suggest that learners are sunsmart and apply sunblock before they come to school.

On Thursday, October 30, TNIS will host an athletics competition for Year 8 boys attending WBHS, as well as the Year 8 boys and girls attending TGS in 2026. This will be for learners who have qualified as competitive in one or more field events during trial events held in the first four weeks of Term 4.
