Back-to-school
September 4, 2026
Sept 8- 9th Grade and New-to-CRHS 10-12th Graders
Tuesday September 8th will be the first day of school only for 9th graders and new 10th-12th grade students to CRHS. Please read the important information below about the day :
There will be a normal bus pick up and drop off time as well as a normal start and release time (7:30am start, 2:10pm release).
School lunches will be available, and students will use their school ID to access their lunch account.
Different from a typical school day, freshmen will participate in welcome and orientation activities, as well as a shortened class schedule to meet their teachers.
Students new to the building will work with their counselor on welcome activities, and they will have an opportunity to learn about their schedule and student life.
Sept 8- Returning 10th-12th Grade Students
September 8th will also have a new format for returning students in grades 10-12 in Anoka-Hennepin high schools. These students will participate in virtual learning lessons focused on preparing for life beyond high school.
- What’s changing: Students in Grades 10-12 will not attend school in person but will be assigned lessons to complete virtually.
- Why the change: Anoka-Hennepin Schools provide multiple pathways for students to prepare for career and/or college readiness following high school. As part of that effort, students will create a Personalized Learning Plan starting in Grade 9 and continuing through their high school experience.
- The schedule: On Sept. 8, students in Grades 10-12 will begin their school year and receive information and directions to begin their planning process virtually. Throughout the school year, students will be encouraged to utilize time during late-start Mondays and any unstructured advisement time to complete this important work.
- Know the Score: Students will access their PLP through a digital platform called Scoir (pronounced Score) where they will be assigned a variety of career and college readiness activities. The Scoir platform is accessed by logging in on the district/school website to the A-HConnect for students.
- More information: Students will be supported through the Career and College Center at their school with any questions they have. Additional information will be shared throughout the school year in school e-newsletters for parents and guardians and through email communication with students.
Back to School Community Greeters
Carrying on our tradition, CRHS will welcome students back to school in style and strengthen our connection to the Coon Rapids community by having greeters from our community partners welcome students to the building. Please anticipate a warm greeting from our community members, and we encourage all our students to welcome our community members to the building by letting them know “It’s a Great Day to be a Cardinal!”

Behavior and Technology Expectations & Reminders
CRHS believes in providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for our students. To ensure your child is ready to succeed, please review the presentation below for important CRHS behavior and technology expectations for the upcoming school year.
School Safety Expectations- Entry & Exits
As the year begins, we wanted to share some general building safety expectations focusing on student entrance to CRHS. Please read the items below carefully.
Students are expected to enter CRHS through Door #1 after school starts- this includes STEP, PSEO, and Work Experience Students.
Students entering after school starts will need to provide a student ID for entry. This ID can be in the form of your plastic ID card or your profile in the StudentVue app. We can also pull up your student page from Synergy at the security booth when you enter if you do not have a card or phone but know this will take additional time.
Also, a reminder that students are not allowed to open doors for entry of anyone! Please remind your classmates to enter through Door #1. Students who open doors for others will earn consequences for violating building and district safety protocols.
All entry is required through Door #1 to ensure Cardinal Nation remains a safe and welcoming school community for all of us!
Closed Campus, Food Delivery Reminder
We wanted to share a few important reminders as we start the new year at CRHS.
CRHS is a closed campus, which means students must remain on campus for lunch and are not allowed to order food into the building through restaurants/outside vendors (e.g. restaurant delivery, DoorDash, UberEats, etc).
Food delivered to CRHS will be turned away.
Students cannot go to their cars during the school day without a pass from the Main Office.
Students may eat lunch in the cafeteria only- other spaces are not open to food.
2026-27 School Lunch- Free/Reduced Meal Application Available Now
The state’s Free School Meals program will continue during the 2026-27 school year, families still are encouraged to apply to qualify for more educational benefits. Even if you have been approved for free meals in the past, a new application needs to be filled out each year.
Starting three years ago, every student received one breakfast and one lunch at no cost during the school year. The state’s Free School Meals program will continue to cover the cost of one breakfast meal and one lunch meal for every student daily, however the cost of a la carte items, such as milk, other drinks, or extra meal items will not be covered. Students will need to have funds in their meal accounts to purchase any additional food items.
If your family needs access to any other educational benefits available to your student, please visit ahschools.us/freereduced to complete an application.
The enrollment window for the 2026-27 Applications for Educational Benefits is now open. Anoka-Hennepin asks that all families complete an online application to provide additional school funding to support all students in the district. Athletic & Activity Expectations- Important Reminders
Anoka-Hennepin Schools are committed to creating experiences that showcase the talents of student-athletes in an environment that promotes healthy competition. These guidelines limit entrance to students at participating schools with identification and adult supervision for younger students and increased presence of staff and support personnel, amongst other strategies in place to keep activities safe.
As your family makes a plan to attend school events, keep the following guidelines in mind:
Purchasing event tickets
- Save time and avoid long lines and purchase your tickets online by clicking here.
Event entrance overview and expectations
Bring student IDs and allow extra time for admission and entry. Students from the hosting and visiting schools are welcome with student ID. No student ID, no entry. Students from any other schools/non-participating schools must be accompanied by an adult chaperone or they will be denied entrance.
Allow extra time for admission and entry. Increased security may mean lines are longer at the entrance gate. Please plan accordingly.
Entrance expectations- Football Games
Only students from CRHS and the opponent's school will be allowed into the game.
CRHS students must enter through the student gate on the East end of the stadium and have a student ID ready to show at entry. Students may not bring guests from other schools.
Elementary and middle school students must enter through the Main Gate
- Spectators will be charged to enter games through the end of the 1st half and no spectators will be allowed entry after the start of the second half. Please share this information with those attending so they can plan accordingly.
Plan for parent/guardian chaperones in accordance with district guidelines to monitor student activity and behavior.
The student-to-adult chaperone ratio is 2:1 for middle and elementary school students.
Adult chaperones are expected to monitor their student’s behavior and not leave the stadium without their students- all middle school students must sit with their parents/chaperones.
Adult chaperones and students who are unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the facility.
Students from any other schools/non-participating schools must also be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Get behind your team!
Spectators are expected to view the event in the appropriate designated seating area.
Students are expected to be supporting their classmates during events from the stands and not wandering in or around the event (e.g. behind bleachers, Fieldhouse, Mezzanine, etc). Of course students are allowed to purchase snacks from the concession stands but are expected to return to the stands immediately afterwards.
Leave extra items at home or in your vehicle.
Backpacks, large bags/purses and outside food or drink (if concessions are sold on-site) are not allowed and school staff will not supervise or hold belongings.
Anoka-Hennepin prohibits weapons, alcoholic beverages, e-cigarettes / vaping, tobacco products and controlled substances.
Powders and/or airborne irritants prohibited
Students who introduce baby powder or other airborne irritants at events will be removed from the activity and are subject to disciplinary action consistent with district policy. Powders are a health risk and they are prohibited at all events.
Students must have a scheduled ride, or exit the grounds, at the conclusion of the event
Spectators who are unwilling or unable to follow the rules, regulations, or directions from event staff may be asked to leave the event and not be refunded.

Immunization Information & Reminder
Reminder to students & families that Minnesota state law requires proof your student has been immunized. The Minnesota School Immunization Law (MS 121A.11) requires all students to provide proof of vaccine preventable disease immunizations to enroll or remain enrolled in school. There are exceptions to the immunization rules. The state law does allow a process for parents/guardians to file a legal exemption to immunizations for medical reasons or conscientiously held beliefs. The conscientious objection must be notarized and turned in to the student’s Health Service office at his/ her school. The form is available on the district website or from the health service office at your student’s school. More detailed information about immunizations is available in the Anoka-Hennepin School Handbook.
Personal Learning Plans Available in Scoir
In order to help students explore their strengths, identify interests, and plan for their futures, Anoka-Hennepin students will now have digital access to their Personal Learning Plans (PLP) through a digital platform called Scoir (pronounced Score) available on their Rapid Identity screen.
In Scoir, students will be assigned a variety of career and college readiness activities designed to assist them in discovering and researching careers that may be of interest to them. Through interactive assessments and a wealth of additional resources, the PLP helps students examine and determine post-secondary options that will lead them to achieve their goals. Students are encouraged to utilize time during late-starts Mondays throughout the calendar year to complete this important work.
Please check in with your student about their PLP and the progress they are making. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn alongside your student and have important conversations about future planning so you can best support them in this process.
Student Handbook and Policy Review
As we near the start of the school year, we want to share the link to the Anoka-Hennepin Student Handbook and Policies. The handbook covers the basics from school to activities to homework, and key policies approved by the School Board explaining how the district handles matters of conduct and discipline consistently and fairly. These represent important information for our students and families, so we wanted to be sure to provide you access for future reference.
