A Message from the Principal:

Welcome back to another marvelous year of growth and greatness!

It is difficult to believe, but our school year is racing by so quickly! And what a year 2021 has been! We have celebrated many accomplishments, learning so much from our instructional and world experiences, and reflected on how we can continue soaring into the new year.

Each morning, we focus on a Positive Thought and Affirmation of the day. One of this week's Positive Thoughts and Affirmations was “Today I will spread positivity." I'd like to encourage you all to do the same! It may be hard with everything our community is facing, but let's make the best of each day we have been gifted and try to spread positivity. We explain to our students that there is power in the words that we choose to speak, and our words can leave us feeling down or inspired. So, let’s choose inspired today and everyday! This is OUR year!

As we prepare for another successful semester, I’d like to remind all of our parents about the importance of attendance & arriving to school on time. Research shows that students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school consistently. Please continue to partner with us in ensuring that our students are given the best opportunities to be successful!

Adjusted District Calendar - Student Holidays Added

Our teachers and staff have met challenges head-on, experiencing increased workloads, teacher shortages due to COVID, and more. During these challenging times, we want to ensure that our teachers have the necessary time to be fully prepared so they can provide our students with the best learning experience possible.

With the Board’s approval, the district has adjusted the 2021-2022 academic calendar. We changed three Fridays to Student Holidays/Staff Planning Days. Students will not be required to make up the three days. All campus-based staff will report to their school.

Please update your calendars to include these Student Holidays/Staff Planning Days:

  • Friday, February 4th
  • Friday, February 11th

February 18th will remain as a student holiday as designated on the original academic calendar.

100th Day of School!

We will be celebrating the 100th Day of School this Wednesday, February 2, 2022! Join in the celebration by wearing 100th Day of School attire, wearing items with 100 items, OR even as a 100 year old person. GET CREATIVE! (Please remain school appropriate, thank you.)

REMINDERS & UPDATES REMINDERS & UPDATES

Morning Drop Off Policy

The instructional day begins at 7:35 AM. Students arriving to school after 7:35 AM are considered tardy and must be signed in by a parent. Please plan to park your car and escort them in.

Additionally, the morning drop off area for car riders is in the front of the building. For the safety of your child, bus riders, and staff members that are arriving to school, please do not utilize the teacher's parking lot. This is a safety hazard and will be strictly enforced.

Afternoon Dismissal Policy

Please note that in order to utilize the car rider lane on the side of the building, the original car rider tag must be visible in the vehicle. Photocopies & pictures will not be accepted. Anyone that does not have the car rider number in their possession must report to the front office and present proper identification. Please wait for a staff member to load your child and do NOT exit your vehicle.

Home Access Center (HAC)

Progress report and report card grades are available each grading period online. As a reminder, printed progress reports and report cards will be not sent home. It is important for parents to have an account with Home Access Center (HAC) in order to stay updated with your child's progress. Please contact the campus or your child's teacher directly if you need assistance with connecting to HAC.

STAAR Field Test

Per the TEA, several requirements of House Bill 3906, 86th Texas Legislature, 2019, are influencing a redesign of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) that will be implemented in the 2022–2023 school year.

This redesign will include several components - transitioning to online assessments, adding writing to reading assessments, capping the number of multiple-choice questions, and adding new item types. All eligible students enrolled in the grade/subject or course who are scheduled to take the associated STAAR assessment are required to participate in the field test.

Jones Elementary School has been selected to participate in the 4th Grade ELA and 3rd-5th Grade Spanish Language Arts assessments. These assessments will NOT count for a grade or towards our campus accountability.

Volunteers Needed

We are still signing up individuals who wish to serve as campus volunteers! Please click here to sign up according to your interests.
