Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at CAIHS!

The Coatesville Area Intermediate High School community came together for our annual Hispanic Heritage Assembly, celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This year marks the third consecutive year of this special annual celebration, and we are incredibly proud that the assembly is student-created and student-driven, showcasing the creativity, talent, leadership, and cultural pride of our students.

This year’s national theme, “Unidos, Somos Más” (“Together, We Are More”), highlights the unity, resilience, shared values, and collective impact of Hispanic and Latino communities. The theme reminds us that our diverse backgrounds and experiences bring strength to our school community and that we accomplish more when we come together.

Our students brought this theme to life through performances, cultural displays, and activities that celebrated the beauty and diversity of Hispanic and Latino heritage. The assembly was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to learn from one another, recognize the importance of cultural understanding, and celebrate the connections that unite us.

A special thank-you to Mr. Chain for his support in helping make this celebration possible. We would also like to recognize the many staff members and student volunteers who dedicated their time, creativity, and energy to making this event a success, including:

  • Our Senior and Junior High Art Departments

  • Mrs. Presser and her Studio Art and Graphic Design students

  • Allison Escobedo

  • Mr. Rogan

  • Mrs. Dawn Mader, Director of Student Climate and Belonging

  • Dr. High-Kennedy

  • Mrs. Jonas

  • Mrs. Parker-Miles

  • Mrs. Harvey and our Stage Crew

  • Mr. Estrada

  • Mrs. Alvarez

We are also grateful to the community vendors and organizations whose participation and support helped make this celebration meaningful and engaging:

  • Migrant Education

  • Gordon Center

  • ELRC

  • Uncommonly Common Artwork

  • Toledo’z Boutique

  • Mirnas Snacks

  • Artisanias Mexicanas

  • Casa Guanajuato

  • Casa Venezuela

  • Henna Art by Serenity Hoffman

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this special day. Your time, talent, generosity, and commitment to celebrating our students and their cultures make a lasting difference in our school community.

At CAIHS, we believe that when we celebrate our differences, embrace our shared values, and work together, we become stronger as a community. We are proud to continue this annual tradition for the third year and look forward to building upon its success in the years ahead.

Youth Suicide Prevention Contest

Prevent Suicide PA, one of the OMHSAS GLS Youth Suicide Prevention Grant partners, would like to announce the launch of their 2027 PSA Contest for Youth Suicide Prevention!

This contest is open to all Middle and High School students across Pennsylvania.

This is a great opportunity to engage students in a dialogue around suicide prevention, the importance of positive messaging, and ways to communicate a message effectively. Staff who have participated in the past have seen this as a way to teach students on many levels (academically, socially, and emotionally), and students have been empowered to use their voices to reach out to their peers.

Technology Information

Dear CASD Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you well. As we continue to embrace technology as an integral part of our educational environment, we want to ensure that your child’s school-issued device is well-protected. To this end, in lieu of our previous TIF, we are offering optional insurance coverage for these devices to help mitigate any potential costs associated with accidental damage, loss, or theft, outside of any warranty covered repairs.

Why Device Insurance?

School-issued devices are an important tool for learning, and while we strive to take great care of them, accidents can happen. Device insurance provides peace of mind and financial protection by covering repair or replacement costs due to unforeseen circumstances.

What computer insurance covers

A stand-alone computer insurance policy through Progressive includes coverage for perils (laptop theft, vandalism, fire damage, and more) and unexpected accidents such as:

  • Water damage (including liquid spills and submersion)
  • Damage from dropping or stepping on your laptop
  • Power surges due to lightning

What laptop insurance doesn't cover

Laptop insurance doesn't cover everything. Some exclusions are:

  • Computer viruses
  • Wear and tear or corrosion
  • Software issues
  • Blatant neglect

All policies and claims are the sole ownership of the Parents and Guardians.

Complete details and common questions can be found at the following link: https://www.progressive.com/electronic-device-insurance/computer-laptop-insurance/

Sincerely,

CASD Office of Technology
