Welcome to the February edition of our West Junior High newsletter! We're excited to share with you all the latest news, events, and updates from our school community.

Hello West Parents/Guardians,

If your child is a freshman at West we would love to include their baby photo in a section of the yearbook. If you would like to submit your child's photo please send them to this email:

The photo needs to be a JPEG and needs to be sent to that email by the February 9th deadline or your child's baby picture will not be in the yearbook. If you would like to you can include a small quote to your child that is not more than a sentence. It is very important that you get this photo to us before the deadline. If you could put baby freshman in the subject of the email it would be easier to sort through the emails.

Please get the photo to us by the deadline.

It's that time of year to buy yearbooks. If you want to be guaranteed a yearbook, you must purchase one before Feb. 23rd. Any orders after that cannot be guaranteed. Also, the price goes up to $35 after Feb. 23rd so buy one now to be guaranteed a yearbook and get one at the lowest price.

Please join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6th at 3:00pm in the library. Also, don't forget about the Dine Around Night also on Feb. 6th at Panda Express on Overland from 10:30am-10:00PM.

We will be selling Valentine Grams at lunch on Feb. 12th, 13th and 14th. If you would like to donate suckers, please just drop them off in the main office. If you would like to buy a Valentine Gram for your child, look for that email in the coming days.

Students have been getting information regarding registering for classes for the 23-24 school year. If you have any questions about this, please contact your child's counselor.

February 19-Presidents' Day-No School

As part of Boise School District’s commitment to safety and security, during the weekends of February 17-18 and April 27-28, 2024, Boise Police Department will conduct training exercises at West Junior High School, 8371 W. Salt Creek Ct, Boise, 83709. During this time, the community may see a number of police vehicles and personnel on-site.

This training serves as another example of how the Boise School District works closely with Boise Police Department, and other first responders, as part of our priority each and every day to provide a safe and secure environment for our students, staff and community.

We've got a NEW school bus locator app launching February 5th with our transportation partner, Durham School Services.

Durham is launching a new BusZone app for parents to see the location of their student's bus. The app is ready for use and will become the source of Durham's late bus notifications beginning Monday, February 5th. Parents will have the next couple of weeks to transition to the new app. The current Durham Bus Tracker App will be deactivated after Feb 16th.

On this awesome new app, you can:

• Create an alert to receive notification when the bus passes through an area.
• Enable school notifications to receive notification when the bus arrives or departs the school.

Congratulations to over 300 students who made the honor roll for 1st semester by getting a 3.5 GPA or higher. These students were recognized by their lockers being decorated and by receiving a West Junior High Honor Roll water bottle sticker. Their names are also posted in the front hallway of the school. Congratulations to our Honor Roll Students.

We want to send a HUGE Thank you to So Good Inc for providing free Slow River Coffee and hot drinks to the teachers and staff at West Junior High on January 9th. This non-profit group goes around our community doing "good" things for people. It was so great of these volunteers to come out and show support to our teachers and staff and we cannot thank them enough. We are trying to organize our students into doing kind things for their classmates and teachers and eventually their community. We are inspired by So Good's mission.
