  • Make sure you stop by and see the tree in the Wright Garden while it is in bloom.
  • Peonies, poppies, lillies and more will be right around the corner.
  • The school garden is taking shape out back thanks to Mrs. Patterson and the members of the Garden Club.
  • Do you have a flamingo or giant stone Bulldog statue for our garden? Email Mr. Moring at smoring@bangorschools.net.

Volunteer in the Bangor School Gardens Volunteer in the Bangor School Gardens

  • The Bangor School Department invites students, families, staff, and community members to become Bangor School Garden Summer Volunteers. Students plant and care for our school gardens during the school year, but we need community support during the critical summer growing months to help the gardens thrive. Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity for adults and children alike to spend time outdoors, connect with nature, learn about gardening and pollinators, harvest fresh produce, and help maintain vibrant outdoor learning spaces for students to return to in the fall.
  • Summer volunteers commit to caring for a school garden for a one-week interval (or more!) between June 22 and August 30. Volunteers are asked to visit the garden at least twice during their selected week(s) to help with watering and weeding. Some gardens may also offer produce to harvest and enjoy at home.
  • No prior gardening experience or volunteer training is required. Interested volunteers can sign up using the link below, where you will also find contact information for each School Garden Coordinator who can answer questions and provide additional guidance for each school garden.
  • Mrs. Patterson, our librarian and garden coordinator, is more than happy to explain things in more detail. Find her contact information on the "Contact" tab at the bottom of the sign-up sheet.
  • Link to sign-up: Bangor School Garden Summer Volunteer Sign-Up

Welcome to Fifth Grade Parents Welcome to Fifth Grade Parents

  • On Tuesday, June 9th, from 6:00–7:00 PM, we will gather in the JFDS Auditorium to help students and families learn more about life at our school and the transition to sixth grade.
  • Members of the sixth-grade team will be available to answer questions about academic expectations, support services, extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities, and the overall middle school experience at JFDS.
  • Following the presentation, members of the JFDS Student Council will offer building tours.

Digital Report Cards

Beginning with the second quarter, JFDS will pilot a transition from printed report cards to a fully digital reporting system in PowerSchool. This change will allow families to access grades more quickly and securely, reduce paper use, and provide a more consistent way to monitor student progress throughout the year.

Families have received instructions on how to access the digital portal. If you need assistance accessing the PowerSchool portal, please reach out to techsis@bangorschools.net or call the main office at (207)941-6220.

Families who prefer a printed report card have the option to request a paper copy. To receive a paper copy in the mail, call the main office at (207)941-6220.

Chronic Absenteeism - Did You Know?

  • Chronic absenteeism occurs when a student misses 10% of the days that they are enrolled in school. In Bangor, for a student attending the entire school year, chronic absenteeism would be 17 days or an average of approximately two days per month. Chronic absenteeism is based on total absences - both excused and unexcused.
  • Please click the link below for more information about chronic absenteeism.
