We've been ringing in the new year with poetry, focusing on rhyme scheme, rhythm, and theme. Our poetry unit explores courage and the many ways it is shown by every-day citizens, former presidents, and civil rights leaders. Discussions will be had about how students can be courageous in their lives. To demonstrate these ideas, we have looked at poems and music to cast a wide net over what poetry is and how it's been transformed into a media most students enjoy daily.

8th Grade Scheduling Night at CAIHS 8th Grade Scheduling Night at CAIHS

You are cordially invited to attend 8th Grade Scheduling Night at the Coatesville Area Intermediate High School on Monday, January 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.

This evening will include a brief presentation designed to help students and families prepare for the transition to high school. During the presentation, we will review the Course Catalog and discuss the courses and opportunities that will be available to students as they begin their first year of high school.

The presentation will be led by the Intermediate High School Administration and Guidance Counselors, who will be available to provide important information and answer questions regarding scheduling and academic planning.

We strongly encourage all 8th-grade students and their parents/guardians to attend, as this information will support informed decision-making for the upcoming school year.

We look forward to seeing you on January 26th.

Sincerely,

Mr. Maloney

Arrival Reminder for Parent Drop Off Arrival Reminder for Parent Drop Off

Arrival is a very busy time of the morning on Olive Street. Most buses arrive early so they can open their doors at 7:10 a.m. and then depart to begin their next run. Families who are dropping off students can avoid a long wait by planning to arrive at Scott after 7:10 a.m., once buses have unloaded and are pulling away.

All vehicles should pull up to the curb on the right side of Olive Street so students can safely step directly onto the curb without crossing in front of traffic.

In addition, both cars and buses should pull forward as far as possible to keep the line moving and prevent backups on 8th Street while turning onto Olive Street.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our students safe and our school community running smoothly.

Middle School Home Basketball Games Middle School Home Basketball Games

We are excited to host our basketball teams at home on our new gym floor. As we begin the boys’ season, please note the following reminders:

Games begin at 3:15 p.m., and doors will open at 3:00 p.m. Students are expected to go home after dismissal and return for the game if they plan to attend. There is no supervision available on campus between dismissal at 2:10 p.m. and the start of the game.

Sixth- and seventh-grade students must be accompanied by an adult to attend games, consistent with football game expectations. Students in these grades who arrive without an adult will not be permitted to enter.

Students attending games are expected to remain in the gym to watch the event. Students who spend excessive time in the hallways or are not seated in the gym may be asked to leave.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Additional Reminder from Nurse Ritter About Sick Students Additional Reminder from Nurse Ritter About Sick Students

I hope you are doing well. I would like to share an important reminder about our school’s procedure when students feel sick during the school day.

Recently, we have noticed an increase in students texting or calling their parents directly to go home due to illness. Please remind your child that they must come to the School Nurse first if they are not feeling well. I will assess their symptoms and determine whether they need to rest, return to class, or be sent home.

For safety and accountability, parents should not come to pick up a student unless you receive a call from the Nurse’s Office. This ensures that every student is properly evaluated and that we are aware of who is leaving the building at all times.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized process for student health and wellness. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
