Wednesday's Words

Dear Families,
The Norfolk Public Schools and the Town of Norfolk are excited to announce that we have been invited by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to participate in the Core Program Eligibility Period for a potential school expansion project at the Freeman-Kennedy School. This is the first formal step in the state’s school construction grant process.
The invitation, which was approved by the MSBA Board of Directors on Friday, follows the District’s submission of a Statement of Interest outlining long-standing space constraints driven by sustained enrollment growth. Entry into the Eligibility Period allows the District and Town to begin the next phase of project development in coordination with the MSBA.
PreK Awarded Grant from Norfolk County Teachers Association
The Norfolk Public Schools Preschool Program was recently awarded a grant from the Norfolk County Teachers Association (NCTA). These funds have been used to enhance our classrooms with new cooperative games, dramatic play materials, and collaborative building sets. These additions support our ongoing commitment to fostering social development, imaginative play, and positive peer interactions for our youngest learners. One of our students, Cara Maier, is already enjoying the new pie set in Mrs. Levy’s dramatic play area as she and her classmates pretend to be bakers in their very own “Bakery.”
Spring 2025 MCAS results
The Spring 2025 MCAS results highlight the continued growth and academic achievements of Norfolk Public Schools students across English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. This presentation provides a snapshot of district performance and serves as one of many measures we use to reflect on our instructional practices and ensure all students receive the support or enrichment they need. Moving forward, we are excited to implement several next steps, including a strong focus on writing through our second year with HMH, the introduction of new resources like Amplify Desmos for Math, and a continued commitment to equity through data-driven planning and multi-tiered support systems.
