Welcome Back to School! Welcome Back to School!

Patriots,

We are so excited to welcome you back to campus for another great school year! It has been wonderful seeing so many of our new and returning students during Prep Day and Meet the Teacher. We look forward to connecting with our students and families and building strong relationships throughout the year. Our goal is to support every student in becoming successful socially, emotionally, and academically. We are incredibly proud to serve the Rawlinson community!

As counselors, we are here to support students as they navigate challenges such as peer pressure, self-esteem, and academic stress, while encouraging positive choices, mental wellness, and goal setting. We work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where every student has the resources and encouragement they need to be successful both in school and in life.

The Rawlinson Counseling Department supports students by alpha. While each counselor is assigned to a specific group of students, we are all available to assist and support every student on campus.

We are looking forward to an AMAZING year filled with new opportunities, exciting experiences, and plenty of reasons to celebrate our Patriots!

  • Every student can succeed when provided the proper supports and encouragement.
  • Learning is a lifelong process that requires risk-taking and a positive growth mindset.
  • All children are unique and should be treated with respect and dignity.
  • The needs of all students must be addressed through the school counseling program.
  • Fostering a positive self-image is the collaborative effort of the school, home, and community, and is necessary for students to reach their full academic, social and emotional potential.
  • A comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program provides important benefits to individual students by addressing their academic, social and emotional needs.
  • A comprehensive, developmental school counseling program is not a support service but an integral part of the total education program.

Our Howdy Lessons are coming up during the first weeks of September, and we are so excited to connect with our Patriots! During these lessons, students will learn more about the role of a counselor, the services and support we provide, and how to reach us whenever they need assistance. We are looking forward to getting to know our students, hearing about their summer adventures, and beginning to build meaningful, lasting relationships with all of our Patriots!

Guidance Lessons Guidance Lessons

Guidance lessons are provided throughout the school year by our counselors and are designed to help students develop essential life skills, including problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication, and emotional regulation. Delivered in the classroom, these lessons cover a variety of topics such as bullying prevention, goal setting, career exploration, and building healthy relationships. Through these lessons, counselors support students’ personal and social-emotional growth while helping create a positive, safe, and respectful school environment.

The Rawlinson Counselors are committed to enabling and empowering all students to become successful problem solvers. We value the importance of mental health and the impact it has on academics. The RMS Reset Room was created to provide a safe and private space that allows students to de-escalate and refocus on positive coping strategies and restorative practices so that students can promptly return to the regular learning environment with a minimal loss of instructional time.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month

Please remember to lead with kindness and compassion, as we never truly know what someone else may be going through. A simple smile, kind word, or reaching out can make a meaningful difference. If you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. We all have a role to play in supporting one another and helping prevent someone from feeling alone. Most importantly, remember that you are never a burden to the people who care about you. Your life, your voice, and your presence matter.

Bully Prevention Month Bully Prevention Month

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and at Rawlinson, we are committed to creating a school environment where every student feels safe, valued, respected, and connected. Throughout the month, our counseling team will provide guidance lessons focused on kindness, empathy, respect, and positive social behaviors.

We will also talk with students about how they can respond when they see someone being treated unkindly or when they find themselves in a situation that feels unsafe or uncomfortable. Our hope is to empower every student to speak up, support one another, and know that they never have to face a difficult situation alone. Together, we can make Rawlinson a place where every Patriot feels a sense of belonging and knows they matter.

Red Ribbon Week 2026 Red Ribbon Week 2026

National Red Ribbon Week 2026 honors the 38th anniversary of the ultimate sacrifice made by U.S. Drug Enforcement Special Agent, Enrique "Kiki" Camarena.

In 1988, Congress officially proclaimed the last week of October as Red Ribbon Week in honor of the brave American's life. He made a difference by helping to fight illegal drugs. Today, over 100,000 schools and other organizations across the United States use this time to spread the important message about living a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.
