Message from the Principal Message from the Principal

What a fantastic first week of school! It was so exciting to see all our students, and it's been a joy watching them get right back into the school routine. We are especially thrilled to welcome our newest raccoons, the kindergarten students!

Normally, the Raccoon Register newsletter is sent out every two weeks, but we wanted to send a quick message with a few important reminders after this first week. We had a truly wonderful start to the school year, and we're looking forward to all the learning and growth ahead.

Have a safe and happy three-day weekend!

Sincerely,

Annie Pleau

Principal

Statewide Electronic Device Policy- Important Statewide Electronic Device Policy- Important

Smart Watches must be "packed" in backpacks from Bell to Bell

We've been asked about our policy on smartwatches, and it's a great question! Just a friendly reminder that, per statewide policy, all smart devices—including smartwatches—need to be put away in backpacks during school hours.

Even when a device is in "school mode," it isn't allowed to be worn. We've noticed a few students still have theirs on, and we would appreciate your help in reminding them of this policy. Your support helps us ensure our classrooms are great places for learning!

In alignment with Governor Tina Kotek’s executive order, the district has made adjustments to the personal electronic device policy. All personal devices — including cell phones, earbuds, headphones and smartwatches — must be stored in backpacks during the school day, including restroom breaks and lunchtime. Students with IEPs or 504 plans that include device-related accommodations are exempt. If you need to get an urgent message to your child during the school day, please call the main office.

Please take a moment to review this policy with your child to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

Arrival and Dismissal Arrival and Dismissal

On-Time Raccoons On-Time Raccoons

Hello Sato Community,

This year, we're focusing on being Right on Time Raccoons! Punctuality is a crucial life skill, and it's also key to a successful day here at school. Being on time ensures that all students are ready to learn and connect with their classmates and teachers as soon as class begins.

Here's our morning schedule:

  • Our doors open for students at 7:30 a.m.

  • Our doors close at 7:45 a.m.

To improve our sign-in process for students who arrive after 7:45 a.m., we are implementing a new procedure:

If your student arrives late, please park your car and walk them to the sign-in table. To help the process go smoothly, you will need to know your student’s ID number and the name of their teacher.

Once they are signed in, they will receive a late slip and can head to class.

Thank you for helping us be Right on Time Raccoons this year!

Bikes and E-Scooters Bikes and E-Scooters

Electric bicycles and scooters are becoming increasingly popular. In the state of Oregon, children under the age of 16 are not allowed to ride any class of electric bike or scooter.

We strongly encourage all students and adults to wear a helmet when riding any set of wheels, motorized or not. If you are under the age of 16, you must wear a helmet when biking, scootering, or skating.

Know the facts, follow safety laws, and stay safe!

Bike and Scooter Dismissal Bike and Scooter Dismissal

If there are parents meeting their child who has brought a bike or scooter to school, you MUST meet your child at the corner of Ridgeline and Kaiser. Please make sure your child's teacher knows they are a Ridgeline Dismissal.

We have had several parents come to retrieve bikes or scooters from the front or side of the school in the middle of our dismissal. As a friendly reminder--- we cannot have parents at the front of the school while we are dismissing students.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Please label all items you bring to school

We get a tremendous amount of missing items in our lost and found each year and when they are not claimed, we donate it to the BSD Clothes for Kids program. Please label all things brought to school with a first name and last initial so we can get it back to the rightful owner! Thank you!
