Administration's Message

Dear Winston Park Elementary School Parents,

Welcome back to the start of a new school year! We hope you and your children had a fantastic summer and are ready for an exciting year ahead. We want to commend all our students for doing a fantastic job adhering to our unified dress code during these first two weeks of school. Your support in ensuring your child comes to school dressed appropriately is greatly appreciated. If you need assistance with uniforms, please don't hesitate to reach out to our school counselors, who are here to help. We are so grateful to have the world’s best teachers, who daily make the impossible, possible! Keep it up wallabies and know that we are here to help in any way possible! We ask for everyone’s cooperation in completing the important Back to School Forms, including the Code of Conduct Acknowledgement Forms. (Paper copies have been provided.)

It is so awesome to see our wallabies gaining independence. Thank you for all your cooperation with our arrival and dismissal, each day gets smoother. As we settle into our routines, please remember that school begins promptly at 8:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm. Timeliness is crucial to ensure a productive and safe learning environment for all our students.

We had an informative Parent Teacher Association (PTA) & School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting last month, and we invite all parents to our upcoming meetings. *Please see the schedules below for meeting dates. We have some exciting events on the horizon, including our Open House on September 6th. Third to fifth-grade families are invited to join us from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm, followed by PreK to second-grade families from 6:45 pm to 7:15 pm. It's an excellent opportunity to meet your child's teachers and get a glimpse of what they'll be learning this year. *This is not a time to have a conference. Please schedule a separate time with your child's teacher to discuss your child's progress.

Mark your calendars for the Texas Roadhouse PTA event on September 12th from 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm, which promises to be a fun-filled evening for the whole family. We are also excited about our Scholastic Book Fair from Sept. 14th through the 22nd, with our Title 1 Literacy Night schedued for Sept. 20th. Stay tuned for more details!

We're looking forward to a fantastic school year ahead filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated staff.

School Lunch Reminder: FREE Breakfast & Lunch!

Children need healthy meals to learn. Broward County Public Schools offer healthy, nutritious meals every school day. Breakfast is free to all students under the Universal-Free Breakfast Program; lunch is now FREE under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications. Instead, schools that adopt CEP are reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free meals based on their participation in other specific means-tested programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

We are still encouraging families to apply for Free or Reduced-Price Meals, complete a meal application online at www.myschoolapps.com to maintain our Title 1 status. Funding from Title 1 provides many benefits for students, like curriculum programming, materials, and free tutoring at WPE. If you are unable to complete an application online, contact Food and Nutrition Services at 754-321-0250 to receive a paper Multi-Child Application for Meal Benefits. If you complete a paper application, please return the form to: Food and Nutrition Services, 7720 W. Oakland Park Boulevard, Suite #204, Sunrise, Florida, 33351. After your application has been processed, notification of your child’s meal eligibility will be sent to the e-mail address provided or through the postal service.
