Cubs Weekly Update #8
October 8, 2026
A Peek into your Cub's Week...
During gathering, we spend time in prayer, introduce or review colors, shapes, and numbers. We practice counting and creating patterns. Our helper of the day assists with many of these tasks and also helps us mark our day on the calendar. We often sing a couple of songs, one is our Bible verse. Once we finish with our Bible story, we are off to play.
This week, we introduced the color purple, the letter Pp and the number 5. We reviewed our Bible verse, shapes, and practiced counting to 5 in our Papa Bear and Baby Bear voices, filled out the calendar, and made a pattern. Our Bible story was about Paul and how he praised God in prison.
Tuesday's Special Guest
This week we had a guest, Miss Jeanne, from the Berne Public Library. She read 3 fun stories to us about Halloween. We had fun listening to Miss Jeanne and participating in her activities. Miss Jeanne will be visiting us for a special storytime each month. We can't wait for her to return in November.
Music...
In conjunction with our food theme, we used our rhythm sticks and made a pizza to the song Mama Mia.
Playing...
Look at the sticker in the bottom of the tin. Then find the color of ball that matches the sticker.

Checking the oven.
Our Snack Prayer
Has your child mentioned we pray before our snack? The student helper of the day assists the teachers in leading the prayer. You might be surprised how well our Cubs do leading the group.
Our snack prayer:
God is great.
God is good.
And we thank Him for our food.
Amen
Tuesday's Snack - Popcorn
The children enjoyed eating their popcorn and watching Curious George and the Popcorn Problem.
Thursday's Snack - Pancakes
We started with pancake mix.
Everyone had an opportunity to shake the mix.
Each child added their own personality to the shaking.
Everyone liked watching the pancake batter form into little pancakes on the griddle.
They thought it was neat to watch for the little bubbles so we knew to flip the pancake. It was amazing how we didn't have pancake batter everywhere,
The pancakes were student approved.
A little more playing...
When you come for parent teacher conferences next Monday, please take time to look at your child's work in the hallway.
Our Bible Verse
