DMS Community Newsletter 25/26

Dear Defender Families,

This week was a wonderful opportunity to visit classrooms and see the engaging and rigorous lessons our students are participating in. The excitement for learning was clear, and I only wish there had been more time to visit even more classes!

Below are the results of the School Site Council (SSC) election. A big thank you to all of our nominees for their willingness to serve and to our community for participating in the process. We truly appreciate the continued support and strong sense of community throughout DMS!

Here are a few helpful reminders:

• Attendance: Every day counts! We encourage families to schedule appointments and trips outside of school hours whenever possible. Consistent attendance is one of the most important ways to support your child’s success. If your student is healthy, we want them here learning with us!

• Calendar: Please take a look at the 2025–2026 school year calendar. Keeping these dates in mind will help with planning family events and making the most of the school year.

🌟 Gates open at 7:45 am. All students should be in their classes by 8:00 am.

If you have a student who is riding a bike/scooter/ebike/escooter to school, they need to complete the Safe Riders Course.
