ELA in Action!

The energy at Strayer is buzzing as our students and teachers dive deep into teaching and learning with PSSAs right around the corner! We are incredibly proud of the hard work and focus being displayed across all classrooms as the testing season approaches.

We caught Mrs. Dehart’s 2nd period ELA class in action, as shown in the picture. The students were hard at work mastering the Text-Dependent Analysis (TDA) essay, using Lois Lowry’s classic novel, The Giver.

Our sprint teams gave it their all at Hatboro-Horsham last week, and the results are in!

  • Girls’ 4x1 Team Qualified! Sadie W., Cecily C., Kate H., and Morgan R. placed 8th out of 48 schools with a time of 54.16 seconds, officially punching their ticket to the Penn Relays.

  • Boys’ 4x1 Team Personal Best: Elliot M., Ben F., Rasool H., and Logan C. placed 13th overall, won their heat, and set a new personal record of 48.94 seconds.

It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. Thank you for your support as we head to the Penn Relays—hopefully, we’ll be bringing back a medal for the trophy case!

Celebrating our School Nurses, Mrs. Marrow and Mrs. Johnson!

We want to extend a huge thank you to our school nurses for their tireless dedication to student health and wellness. In addition to their daily care, they have been working extra to prepare medical supports for our upcoming school trips. Their proactive efforts ensure our students stay safe and healthy whether they are in the classroom or out exploring. We are so grateful for the peace of mind they provide our students every day!

Spring Assessment Update: PSSAs & Keystone Exams Spring Assessment Update: PSSAs & Keystone Exams

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, it is time for our students to showcase all they have learned! We are incredibly proud of the hard work our students have put forth this year, and we truly believe they are capable of performing at a high level.

The upcoming Math and ELA PSSA and Keystone Algebra assessments are a vital opportunity for students to give us an accurate understanding of their academic progress. This data is essential because it helps us program and tailor instruction appropriately for your child next year.

🗓️ 2026 Testing Schedule

  • April 20-22: ELA PSSA
  • April 27-28: Math PSSA
  • April 29-30: Science PSSA (8th grade only)
  • May 13-14: Keystone Algebra (Students currently enrolled in Algebra)

💡 How You Can Help

To ensure our students feel confident and supported, please encourage your child to put forth their best effort and do their best work. To help them stay focused:

  • Lighten the Load: On testing days, we will ensure student workloads are lighter to allow them to focus their energy on the assessments.

  • Be on Time: Ensure your child arrives at school on time so they can begin testing with their peers without feeling rushed.

  • Rest & Fuel: A good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast are key to maintaining stamina throughout the day!

For more information, please review the attached 2025-2026 PSSA/Keystone documents from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education!
