Dear Little School Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. Although we saw a little snow this week, there is light at the end of the winter tunnel. With the recent warmer temperatures, we were finally able to get back out on the playground as the snow has melted, and I am manifesting many sunny recess days ahead!
Thank you to everyone who attended our spring conferences. It is my hope that you had meaningful conversations with your child’s teacher about their academic progress and personal growth. Strong partnerships between home and school are an important part of supporting our students!
As we head into April and layers begin to shed, please remind your student to check the Lost and Found. It is getting quite full these days, and we would love to reunite items with their owners.
Don't forget to check out the PTO section of the newsletter. The biggest fundraiser of the year is TONIGHT, and there are some great experiences up for auction! Your support helps bring amazing enrichment opportunities and special events to our school.
Finally, a quick reminder that we have another half day coming up on Thursday, April 3rd, with dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warmly,
Julie Fahey
MCAS Testing
Students in grades 3–5 will be taking the ELA MCAS over the next two weeks! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to demonstrate what they’ve learned and provide valuable feedback on our instructional practices. We wish all of our students the best of luck and know they will do their very best!
Wireless Communication Devices
Another reminder regarding wireless communication devices. Here is the language directly from our elementary handbook:
Personal wireless communication devices (cell phones, watches, hand held gaming devices, etc.) must be turned off and kept out of sight during school hours. Students and parents/guardians should not utilize electronic communication devices to communicate during school hours. Personal devices with video, audio, or other imaging capabilities are prohibited. This includes while riding the bus (please refer to the Bus Safety section).
With the increase in field trips coming up, please note, these school rules apply on field trips as well.
We Did It!
We succeeded in our challenge to read 75,000 minutes. The students have earned a global play day! They will enjoy 30 minutes of outdoor play, 30 minutes of indoor play, and 30 minutes of digital play on a day very soon!! Congratulations labs!
Did you know? Play is a crucial aspect of a child's social, emotional, and cognitive development. The idea for this day is to let children explore their creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interactions in an unstructured and spontaneous environment!
