14 school days left in the semester

Hello Falcon Families:

I hope you enjoyed your time with your family and everyone had a chance to recharge. We are in the final push to close out this first semester. Grades are due tomorrow for the second 6-week progress check for this semester and grades will be posted in Skyward at the end of the week. This means that your student only has 14 school days to raise their average. The next 2 weeks are closing out the 2nd 9-weeks and then the week of the 15th will be our semester exam week. Many teachers have or will be giving opportunities for students to increase their averages, so please make sure your student(s) are taking advantage of those opportunities.

This time of year is a very busy and fun time of year for school. We have concerts, events (both on and off campus) and theme days. Please make sure to check your email and our facebook page for up to date information.

Please take a moment to read through the information below. We appreciate all your support, and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,

Nicole Rosas-Saunders, Principal

What does STEM look like at Kirby STEM Academy?

At Kirby STEM academy we are focused on providing our students opportunities to develop the following strong STEM Fluency skills:

- Communication

- Collaboration

- Critical/Creative Thinking

- Productive Struggle

At the conclusion of their 6th and 7th grade years, student will be completing a grade level project tied to a real-world scenario for the greater San Antonio area.

With the help of amazing Kirby Middle School staff and a few wonderful tennis ladies from San Antonio Tennis Association teams (including Rosie Rodriguez the campus social worker), KMS was able to bless 67 Kirby families with a frozen turkey and sides this year!

A huge thank-you to Tono Tires Shop, a proud Kirby business, for donating three baskets as well. Your generosity made a big difference!
