Progress reports will be send home with students this coming Friday. They are also available online. Please ask your students for their reports.

The Sylvan School Site Council is an elected body with the important role of overseeing the School Plan, ensuring it supports the goals of the school and district, and assessing periodically the effectiveness of the program. Each year we elect parent members to our school councils. We are currently electing new members to serve on our School Site Council. There are three (3) parent openings on the School Site Council. Please utilize the attached google form to nominate yourself if you are interested in supporting our school by participating in School Site Council (SSC). You may also nominate someone else you feel is a good fit for the position. Thank you for supporting our school.

Media class is now broadcasting live on Media YouTube Channel. Please stay informed and check out the incredible work our student and Ms. Taylor do everyday at Sylvan!

Live School information goes out every Thursday. This information includes weekly updates, merits/demerits, teacher comments, classroom information, including tardies, bathroom passes, and more, when provided by teachers.

Math Club is open to students that want support with 6th-8th grade math. The front gate will open at 7:00am just for those students. Students will still be served breakfast starting at 7:25am and the campus will continue to fully open at 7:40am.

Due to a loss of critical Title 1 funding this past year, the front gate will not open until 7:25 am. Please DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR STUDENT(S) BEFORE 7:25 am. There will be no adult supervision for your child/children. This is new this year, due to a loss of funding that previously paid for supervision during early student drop-off. Students will be permitted on campus for breakfast service beginning at 7:25 am.

Helmets must be worn for bikes and scooters of all kinds.

E-scooters are not permitted at Sylvan Middle School, as you must have a driver’s license and be 16 to operate an E-scooter. Helmet and Scooter tickets are subject to CHPD enforcement, and they have let us know they will continue to ticket riders who do not have helmets or licenses for E-scooters.

After school Jazz Band will be starting up next week. It will be Monday's and Wednesday's until 3:35 pm. There maybe some weeks we do Tuesday/Wednesday or Monday/Tuesday if there are holidays or minimum days.

All students should now have PE clothes and athletic shoes for class. Please remember that Crocs, slides, and Birkenstocks are not permitted.

Students who brought a lock have been assigned a locker. We encourage all students to lock up their belongings, as the school cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items that were not secured.

If your student is injured and needs to be excused from PE, please email their PE teacher prior to the start of the school day. We kindly ask that any injuries or illnesses be communicated ahead of time, rather than once class begins or after the day’s activity is announced. This allows us to best support your student.

AVID will be taking their first college field trip to UC Davis on Tuesday, November 4th from 8am-4pm.

BSU is having a fundraiser on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 2pm-9pm at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. The address is 7804 Greenback Lane, Citrus Heights, CA.

Mention the fundraiser at the restaurant or apply code RCFUND96 to online or app orders at checkout and Cane's will donate 15% of Net Sales to Sylvan Middle School BSU Fundraiser.

Come join us for a fun evening out and help support or kids.

MEChA will be meeting in the library on Monday 11/3/25 from 2:45-3:45pm. The topic will be Dia de los Muertos.

Parents, please review the district cell phone policy with your student. It is in the Sylvan Middle School student planner and will also be reviewed in class by teachers and administrators during the beginning of the school year. Cell phones use is not permitted during instructional time and specified events. Thank you.

• During Lunch
