🧡Our Pence Family🧡 🧡Our Pence Family🧡

Last year our Pence Family worked hard to earn LIGHTHOUSE STATUS through Leader in Me. This was a huge accomplishment, as the Lighthouse certification is a highly regarded standard. The attainment of the Lighthouse certification represents a significant benchmark and it is evidence that a

high standard has been met. Lighthouse Schools are extraordinary examples for other

schools to follow; as such, they should be places anyone the world over could visit to

learn about and be inspired by the strength of the leadership model operating.

Attendance Attendance

One of the MOST important jobs your child can do everyday is to come to school. Attendance is one of the top indicators of student success. When a student is present, we can begin to build strong relationships and learn how to meet their individual needs. Our school day begins at 8:15 am.

Any student coming after 8:15 am will need to check into the office. If your child must be gone, please notify the main office at 641-472- 2957 by 8:30am.

Morning Meetings Morning Meetings

At Pence, we start our day with morning meetings. This 20 minutes is set aside each day to build relationships within the classroom. The structure of a morning meeting is made up of 4 components (greeting, sharing, group activity & morning message). This will be our sixth year of implementing the Leader in Me (7 Habits) curriculum & social emotional learning during this time. Morning meetings help create a respectful, inclusive setting that innate synergy among academic, social, and emotional learning. This is truly a favorite time of the day!
