Greetings!

My name is Dr. Stormy Hickman, and it is such a privilege to serve as your Interim Superintendent during this time of transition. While the Board is doing the important task of determining our permanent superintendent, the work of Elgin ISD continues throughout the summer to prepare for the start of the 26-27 school year.

I would like to call your attention to the open registration for ALL students that is available today. This is an updated process for Elgin ISD as we attempt to collect important information before the start of school. Registration allows you to update your contact information and various parent permissions for the school year. You can access the online registration here.

Additionally, the online registration includes a family income form to be completed. As you may remember, last year we began participating in a program that allows all students to have free breakfast and lunch on all campuses without completing a specific form for free or reduced meals. We are happy to have this opportunity available so that all students can learn without hunger as a barrier.

However, we receive other benefits connected to the economic status of our families, such as federal grant funding that allows us to provide services for students beyond our regular operating budget. Also, our district and schools are provided letter grades by the State that incorporate peer districts with similar economic status. In short, having accurate economic information benefits all students and is essential to continuing the support that our students deserve.

So we need your help! As you complete registration forms, be sure to complete the income verification form that is included. I can assure you that your personal information is kept confidential, and filling out the form is of great benefit to the district. Thank you in advance for supporting us in this way.

On a final note, we hope that you are enjoying the remainder of your summer and getting ready for a great school year in 2026-2027! You can feel the excitement in the air on our campuses and district offices as we make final preparations for the return of our students.
