Kindergarten
Spring has sprung and so have our literacy and math skills! Students are working hard to build letter-sound relationships and phonemic awareness skills through various reading and writing activities. In math they have learned about 3-D shapes and will continue to work on number sense skills by counting, writing quantities and composing/decomposing numbers. The kindergarteners also went on a fantastic field trip to Explore & More. They were able to enjoy fun, hands-on experiences that sparked creativity, imagination and exploration. Thank you to the SPTO for making this day possible. As we head into April, we will continue to sharpen all our skills as we prepare to be first graders soon!

North Tonawanda Botanical Garden Organization Announces $10,000 in New Grants to Support
Sustainability, Education, and Community Stewardship
To begin 2026, the North Tonawanda Botanical Garden Organization (NTBGO) is proud to announce the award of $10,000 in new grants/funding sources that will advance its mission to provide native plants for gardens at our schools and other non-profit organization/municipal locations.
Niagara Area Foundation Awards $5,000 for Sustainable Park Enhancements
This funding will specifically be used to engage students to be stewards of our environment by supplying them with native plants for North Tonawanda schools to build their own native plant gardens, further strengthening the Gardenโs role as a model for ecological stewardship in North Tonawanda.
East Hill Foundation Provides $3,000 for Climate Resiliency and Stormwater Management
This funding will be used to encourage the replacement of lawn areas at municipal locations in North Tonawanda with native plants gardens mitigating stormwater effects and also essential to local pollinators.
Local Benefactor Donates $2,000 to Strengthen Environmental Education in NT Schools
A generous $2,000 sponsorship from a North Tonawanda resident will expand NTBGOโs partnership with the North Tonawanda Public Schools. The funding will supply approximately 600 native plant plugs for the Garden, giving teachers a living laboratory to engage students in hands-on environmental learning. With this funding, the North Tonawanda Botanical Garden will allow students to observe pollinators in their natural habitat, explore how ecosystems function, and understand the importance of protecting native species and sustainable landscapes. This contribution directly enriches student learning while growing native plants at the Garden, benefiting the entire community.
All 3 awards share the same basic goals:
โข to educate students about the importance of native plants and pollinators in our community.
โข to provide site planning, plant selection and planting assistance to participants.
โข to supply native plants for developing school gardens.
