We are very excited that Prairie Trail’s own, Rebecca Black was selected to receive Marcus Volleyball’s Heart of a Marauder Award. Each year a recipient is chosen who loves and supports the Marcus community, has a giant heart, and is going through a challenging time.

Ms. Black was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April. She recently completed her chemo sessions, but still has surgery and radiation ahead. Rebecca has faced this challenge with a fighter’s spirit and a positive attitude. Even on rough days she greets everyone with a smile and a warm welcome to Prairie Trail! She is so deserving of this award.

Rebecca will also be recognized at Tuesday’s Volleyball game against cross town rivals, Flower Mound. We would love to fill the stands with Prairie Trail staff and families. The presentation is scheduled to happen between the JV and Varsity games around 6:00.

Come out to support Rebecca and Marcus Volleyball! (See below how to purchase tickets to the game.)

Freshman Red - 5:30 Marauder Gym

Lunch Visitors has started!

It was so nice to see parents back in the building for lunch!

We are sharing again to make sure everyone knows it has started.

Parents will be able to visit at lunch on a day that is convenient for them. We will not have assigned days at this time. However, we do suggest you make this a treat and not something that happens daily or even weekly. Lunch and recess are great times for students to practice social skills in an unstructured environment with their peers.

Since it has been a while since we have had lunch visitors, we wanted to remind you of a few things.

  • Get here about 10-15 minutes early so the office has time to check you in.

  • Don’t forget your license. Visitors will not be allowed in the building without a license or form of identification (Passport or government issued ID).

  • Visitors must be listed as a guardian or emergency contact in Skyward to be allowed to have lunch with a student.

  • Due to limited space, two visitors will be allowed per student (per family if you have twins)

  • At this time, the cafeteria is only serving food to students. Adults will need to bring their own lunch with them.

Here is the lunch schedule for the grade levels:

  • Kinder - 10:20-10:50 (clean-up 10:45)

  • 1st grade - 11:00-11:30 (clean-up 11:25)

  • 2nd grade - 11:30-12:00 (clean-up 11:55)

  • 3rd grade - 12:00-12:30 (clean-up 12:25)

  • 4th grade - 12:30-1:00 (clean-up 12:55)

  • 5th grade - 1:00-1:30 (clean-up 1:25)

Please review the expectations for when you are visiting with us at lunch.

Expectations for Lunch Visitors

  • No olvides tu licencia.

  • Kinder - 10:20-10:50 (limpieza 10:45)
  • 1er grado - 11:00-11:30 (limpieza 11:25)
  • 2do grado - 11:30-12:00 (limpieza 11:55)
  • 3er grado - 12:00-12:30 (limpieza 12:25)
  • 4to grado - 12:30-1:00 (limpieza 12:55)
  • 5to grado - 1:00-1:30 (limpieza 1:25)

Positive Proof CANCELLED

Proof Positive for Sept. 15th has been CANCELLED by the company. They are no longer offering the ID cards.

Arrival and Dismissal Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival and dismissal went really well this week even with all the rain. Again, thank you for helping us make sure all students arrive and leave school safely each day.

A few more reminders:

  • Doors open at 7:15 am each morning. The only students who should be dropped off before 7:15 are safety patrol, morning greeters, and their siblings. There is no one outside to watch students before 7:15 am.
  • You must have your 2022-2023 car tag to pick up your child(ren). We sent new ones home with your student on the first day of school. If you need additional tags, please email your oldest child's teacher or Rebecca Black, blackrr@lisd.net. We are happy to send more home with your child. You can also pick more up by stopping by the office with your ID.
  • Come up with a plan with your child for rainy days. Let your child's teacher know what the plan is. We are able to work with you on rainy days, but you must also work with us. If you are going to pick your child up, you must have the 2022-2023 car tag. If you do NOT have the car tag, you will be asked to come to the front of the building, park, come inside, and show your ID in order to pick up your child.

Updates on Safety and Security Updates on Safety and Security

LISD has updated some of our safety and security procedures and expectations. One of the new expectation is to train visitors on our Safety Protocols before they enter the building. In order to do this we have created a short video to give you an overview of the Standard Response Protocols (SRP) we use in LISD. Please see below for the SRP posters and QR codes linked to the videos. These posters and QR codes will also be available in the foyer of the building every time you visit if you need a refresher. But don't wait until you come to visit, watch the video now so you are ready.
