The Eagle's Press
Week of Nov 17
MISSION
VISION
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Lindblom Families,
November 19 is the last Colloquium day of the month as well as our Hispanic Heritage assembly. We are fortunate to have a structure like Colloquium Day that allows students to gain academic support, participate in enrichment and cultural experiences, as well as post-secondary awareness activities. Our students have also shared their voice via the CPS Cultivate and College Board Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) surveys on Colloquium Days. All of the aforementioned opportunities align with our CIWP priorities, mission, and vision and we are growing in the right direction.
As we transition into colder temperatures, please remember that dismissal is at 2:48p on Colloquium days and 3:05p on all days. Our afterschool offerings are limited due significantly reduced after school funding; space is limited to forty (40) students in the social room and forty (40) students in the library. By 5:00 p.m., all students must leave campus unless involved in a staff-supervised activity. However, Lindblom Park is one of our valuable community partners and offers after-school programming for students of all ages. If you need after school childcare, please consider the available options at Lindblom Park or make the necessary arrangements to pick your children up on time.
Last but not least, we know that this continues to be a challenging time for many CPS families, and we will continue to provide you with updates as new information becomes available. Families who need support finding groceries or meals can:
Consult this new CPS resource matching school locations with local food, shelter, and medical care options.
Visit the We Got You Illinois website for a comprehensive list of food pantries, meal programs, and food distribution partners throughout Chicago and Cook County.
Call the Healthy CPS Hotline at (773) 553-KIDS (5437) or visit cps.edu/snap.
Together we rise onward and upward.

BE SUPPORTIVE
Plastic-Free Lunch Day
On November 17th, CPS will join schools across the country to serve lunch without plastic! School cafeterias serve over 7 billion meals per year, and one day going plastic-free can make a huge impact. CPS schools whose food service is managed by Aramark will serve handheld items, eliminating single-use plastic as much as possible.
BE INCLUSIVE
We are excited to host our Lindblom Hispanic Heritage Assembly on Wednesday, November 19. This event will celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of our Hispanic population and highlight the diversity that strengthens our school. We are mindful that recent events in the Chicagoland area may be impacting some families, and we want to reaffirm that our school is a supportive and welcoming space for all. Every student and family belongs here. We warmly invite parents and caregivers to help us make this celebration meaningful. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Herrera (iherrera2@cps.edu). Whether assisting with setup, greeting guests, or supporting cultural displays, your presence and partnership are deeply valued. Also, students may use the QR code in the flyer to sign up for activities during their lunch. Thank you.
BE CHALLENGED

Food Drive by SVC
Lindblom's SVC is hosting a Food Drive from November 12th to November 21st to support families in our community who may be affected by the recent decrease in SNAP benefits and to help those in need during the holiday season.
We’re collecting non-perishable food items to ensure everyone has access to nutritious meals this time of year. Donation boxes will be located in the front of the school.
Students are also welcome to take any items they or their families may need. This drive is about supporting one another and making sure no one goes without.

Students must arrive in class within three (3) minutes from the time indicated on the tardy pass.
Any student without a pass in the hallway after the initial hall sweep will be escorted to the nearest tardy station to receive a pass.
