Week 36
Weekly Update
Dear Elmore School Families,
Our 36th week of school was a short week as students had Monday off in honor of Memorial Day. Despite our short week, we had an exciting week filled with lots of fun and adventure as well as continued new learning as we wrap up our school year. We are also wrapping up our final assessments of the school year. erd graders completed the STAR reading assessment and I began Dibbles assessments on Friday. I will send these reports home for you to look over once they are completed.
The big event of the week was our field trip to the ECHO Leahy Center on Wednesday. Students participated in a Teachers Choice Lesson with one of the ECHO Center Educators. During this Lesson students learned about the Monarch Butterfly and then became engineers as they designed simple machines to launch a butterfly to "Mexico". Then we broke up into chaperone groups where students toured the museum exhibits where they learned about lake health and life, watersheds, weather patterns, and more. Thank you to our chaperones, Ben Many, and Paige Bowen.
On Friday the 3rd graders went to MES for a tour and a visit to a classroom for the afternoon. While they were gone we had a visit from two incoming first graders! During their visit students played together and we shared some things we love about the Elmore School, and then they all painted a name tag and Owl for our School Bulletin Board for next year! With four 3rd graders headed to MES next year and just two first graders joining us in first grade next year there is an opportunity for a few MES students to enroll at the Elmore School next year. If you know any MES families with current K, 1 or 2 students who you think would enjoy the unique educational experience the Elmore School offers, please encourage them to submit a request for enrollment by emailing Lisa.Cross@lamoillesouth.org.
On Friday, June 5th, The Elmore School will be hosting Weather at you School with Melissa Vigevani from News Channel 5. Thank you for signing your child up for a time slot to report the weather! You can watch the broadcast live on NBC5 (Channel 5) from 4:30–7:00 a.m. and on the Valley CW from 7:00–8:00 a.m. It will also be streaming continuously from 4:30–8:00 a.m. on MyNBC5.com and the MyNBC5 mobile app. After the morning newscast, additional recorded segments featuring a few of our students will air during the 4:00 p.m. newscast, recapping the event and spotlighting Elmore School.
Our last day of school is quickly approaching on Tuesday June 16th. Dismissal will be at 12:15. Our 3rd Grade Graduation and end of year family picnic potluck will be that evening from 5:30 - 7:00. We will send off our third graders with a brief graduation ceremony and then have a potluck picnic after. please sign up to share a dish for our potluck picnic. Use the green button below.
