Principal's Message
Hello Lincoln Community,
The first day is almost here! Monday we begin together! We can't wait, we're so excited to see everyone again and welcome our new students and families to our community. By now you should have received your letter in the mail that has key information, including the name of your child's teacher and bus stop information if he/she rides the bus.
Arrival on Day 1: Upon arrival, which starts at 7:20, students will go to the gym and line up by class. We'll have plenty of adults there helping out to make sure students connect up with their class of students, so parents don't need to accompany their child to the gym. By about 7:45 our teachers will begin leading students to their classrooms to begin the day.
If You're Dropping Your Child Off: The first few days can be busy, so please follow our traffic patterns and the signals of the adults who will be outside to guide the drop off process. Parents can drive into the front-side parking lot (the Boones Ferry side) and loop around to drop off students. As in past years it's important to pull forward as our staff directs so that we can unload cars as efficiently as possible. Don't park in the drop off or driving line. Also, please drop off from the lane closest to the school as the inside lane (closer to the island) is for moving traffic. Most importantly, drive very slowly (5 mph or less) and safely. Safety is our top priority!
More about the First Day: First through 5th graders start on Monday, but our kindergartners will have a staggered start with approximately a third of the students attending each of the first four days, Then on Friday, August 30, all kindergartners will have their first day together. School hours are the same this year with the instructional day starting at 7:55 and ending at 2:20. Our doors open at 7:20. Buses drop off at the backside of the school where we have lots of staff to supervise and welcome our students.
Parent Pick Up at the End of the Day: If you're picking up your child after school, you may drive into the front parking lot and wait in the loop. We'll start the pick up process around 2:25. Like the morning routine, please carefully follow staff directions, including pulling forward as far as possible, picking up from the school side lane, and keeping the island side lane clear except for moving traffic. Don't park in the drop off or driving line. By driving slowly, safely, and following staff directions, the dismissal process will go very smoothly.
Roof Construction Continues: Yes, the process is still going and will continue through October. The roof replacement project started in mid-June and with the start or the school year it'll continue during the after school hours. Care is being taken to ensure that the roofing project doesn't impact our school day. Once it's complete, we look forward to having a solid roof for years to come.
Questions: Please feel free to send your questions or feedback to us at teresa.alfaro@woodburnsd.org or pmcdougal@woodburnsd.org. Go Dolphins!
Sincerely,
Teresa Alfaro - Principal
