I hope you all enjoyed your time at Meet the Teacher and are excited for school to get back in action. Huge thank you to Texas Tacos, Pokey-Os, the Owens Staff, and our wonderful PTA for sponsoring such an incredible event. I'm so sad to have missed all the fun, but from the pictures everyone posted, it seemed like you guys didn't miss a beat. If all goes according to plan, I should be back for the first day of school on Monday.

With that said, Monday is right around the corner, and I've got some final information to send your way. I am aware of some contradictions in our communication regarding Drop-Off & Pick-Up, so please be advised that the information outlined in this newsletter has been updated and corrected to alleviate any confusion.

• 7:15 AM - Drop-Off Begins

• 7:15-7:45 AM - Breakfast

• 7:45 AM - School Day Begins

• 7:50 AM - Tardy Bell

• 3:10 PM - Dismissal

• All PreK & Kindergarten drop off in the back of the school
• Drop Off @ Cafe before 7:30 AM
• Drop Off @ all entrances after 7:30 PM--use the cafe entrance if your student is eating breakfast.
• Breakfast is served from 7:15 AM - 7:45 AM.
• Tardy bell rings & school begins at 7:50 AM

All siblings will be picked up with the oldest sibling, with the exception of Pre-K & Kindergarten, who will be picked up in the back of the school. This aligns with our dismissal process from last year.

Families should have received a car tag at Meet the Teacher. If you have not yet received it, one will be sent home on the first day of school. If your car tag was sent home blank please write your student(s) names in large bold print. I suggest lightly sketching the students name in pencil before writing over it with a marker. All siblings should be written on a single car tag (see example below). If your child's teacher has already written their name on the car tag, that will be sufficient.

After the first week of school, cars without a car tag will be required to park and check out their student from the office. Without a car tag, only individuals that are identified under a student's contact list may pick-up or check out a student.

If you would like a second car tag for a secondary vehicle you can purchase one from the front office for $2 during school hours.

Families are welcome to park and walk their student to their classroom during the first week of school. Please be mindful that we have a limited number of parking spots and ask that you do not park in driveways, entrances, or fire lanes. August 22nd will be the official Owens Independence Day. Parents who need to enter the building on or after the 22nd will need to sign in at the front office as a guest.

We will have first week of school pictures take place on Thursday, August 18th. Students should bring $5 on Thursday to have their picture taken. Students will receive a 4x6" print in the upcoming weeks. This is a campus fundraiser and funds go directly to supporting our staff and celebrating our students.

All students should wear the appropriate tennis shoes on days they attend P.E. Consult the "specials rotation" doc below to see when your child's class will be in P.E.

All students will receive free breakfast and lunch at Owens in the 22-23 school year.

ALL parents/guardians should complete the “Confidential Socioeconomic Form” that is a part of their student's enrollment packet. This form alone ensures that our campus is the recipient of significant funding that supports all students here at Owens. If you’ve already completed the enrollment packet and are unable to edit this document, you can complete and return the paper form to your child’s teacher or the front office.
