DLJ Family Updates
August 23, 2026
🌟 Nationally Recognized—Again!
DLJ,
We have been officially recertified as a National Demonstration Magnet School! This national recognition required 400+ pieces of evidence and detailed descriptions demonstrating the excellence of our programs, instruction, partnerships, and school community.
We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and proud that your family chose Jamerson. Thank you for being part of what makes our Trailblazer community so special!
Angela Lewis,
Principal
Excellence for All, Every Day, Every Way...The Journey Continues
Thank you for Your Feedback!
Trailblazer Families, we would love your feedback regarding our Home Challenge!
The Home Challenge has been a longstanding DLJ tradition designed to support continued learning at home. It has been a schoolwide effort that requires significant coordination and volunteer support to help grade and track student participation.
We absolutely want to continue recognizing and rewarding our students for their hard work—this will remain! At this time, we are looking for family feedback specifically around the Home Challenge process and how we can continue to make it meaningful and effective for our students and families.
To clarify, this survey is about the weekly Home Challenge program—DreamBox and math/reading worksheets students completed to earn points and rewards throughout the year.
It is NOT about Home Design Challenges, such as the 4th-grade totem poles or Kindergarten
pumpkin wagons. Those are separate at-home projects.
Thank you for taking a few moments to share your feedback!

Fingerprinting Services @ Open House
If you are interested in getting fingerprinted at Open House, please complete these two steps:
1. Complete the required volunteer forms at least 72 hours in advance.
Visit the link below and select the option that applies to you—either a new volunteer or a current volunteer seeking Level 2 clearance.
This also allows time to determine whether you are already fingerprinted and cleared through the Livescan system.
https://www.pcsb.org/departments/district-services/strategic-partnerships/volunteer-information
2. Sign up for a fingerprinting time during Open House.
Fingerprinting will be available from 5:30–7:00 PM. Please select a time that works best for you:

Student Services Update: Continuing to Support Our Trailblazers
We want to share an important update regarding our Student Services Team. Due to a recent staffing change, our school counselor role is currently being supported through our broader Student Services Team.
While there has been a change in staffing, the services and supports provided to our students and families are continuing. This includes counseling and social-emotional support, 504 services, student check-ins, family support, and other services traditionally supported through the school counseling role.
We are fortunate to have an experienced Student Services Team, including our school psychologist, school social worker, and behavior specialist, who have been part of the Jamerson community and are familiar faces to many of our students, families, and staff. Together, they will help ensure continuity of services and that students continue to receive the support they need.
Families should continue to reach out to the school when their child needs additional support, just as you have in the past. We will make sure your concern, or request is connected with the appropriate member of our Student Services Team.
Our commitment to supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—has not changed, and we appreciate your continued partnership as we support every Trailblazer.
🏫 Save the Date: Open House – August 26!
We look forward to welcoming you to Open House on Wednesday, August 26! We will follow a similar format as last year, giving families an opportunity to learn important school information and visit classrooms.
🕔 5:15 PM – Patrol Meeting in the Media Center
All student patrols and their families should attend.
🕕 5:30-6:00 PM – Title I Meeting | Cafeteria
We will begin the evening together with our annual Title I meeting.
Following the Title I meeting, we will have two classroom sessions with transition time in between, allowing families with multiple children the opportunity to visit more than one classroom. A 5th Grade Meeting will also take place following the Title I meeting.
Open House will conclude at 7:00 PM. Please look for additional information and the full schedule coming soon.
We look forward to seeing you! 💙
🍎 Important: Food Allergy Information
Families, if your child has a food allergy or special dietary need, please be sure to complete the Food Allergy Form so our Café Team has the information needed to safely support your child.
Please see the form below. Completed forms may be submitted to your child’s classroom teacher or the main office, and we will make sure they are provided to the Café Team.
Thank you for helping us keep our Trailblazers safe and supported!
Important Information Comes Home on Tuesdays!
Just as we did in years past, Tuesdays will be our designated day for schoolwide information and paperwork to be sent home with students. This includes important documents, flyers, forms, and other information coming from the school.
For example, Picture Day information will be sent home this Tuesday, so please be sure to check your child’s backpack.
Remember: Tuesday = Check Those Backpacks! 🎒
⭐ Reminders!
1. Tell Us How Your Child Goes Home
Please make sure your child’s classroom teacher knows exactly how your child will go home each day. All dismissal changes must be communicated through the main office. If your child’s regular dismissal method needs to change, you must contact the main office as soon as possible and no later than 2:15 p.m. For third-grade students, please call by 1:30 p.m., as they end their school day at specials, which makes it more difficult to deliver last-minute messages
2. Arrival & Pickip
Campus gates open at 8:15 a.m. Please do not drop students off before this time, as supervision is not available. Students should arrive between 8:15–8:45 a.m. School begins promptly at 8:45 a.m.
Students arriving after 8:45 a.m. must enter through the front office with an adult and receive a tardy slip. Any student who is not in class by 8:45 a.m. will be marked tardy.
Families arriving after 3:15 p.m. must park, enter the front office, and sign their child out as a late pickup.
Breakfast & Lunch
Breakfast is served from 8:15–8:45 a.m. Lunch is also provided free of charge to all students this school year. Students may also bring a healthy lunch from home. When packing lunch, please send only individual or snack-sized bags of chips. Large or family-sized bags are not permitted because students often attempt to share food, which is against cafeteria procedures and may create allergy or safety concerns. Please see the breakfast and lunch menus below for the month of August.
Families are still strongly encouraged to complete the meal application at MySchoolApps.com. The information collected helps the school maintain accurate demographic records and may qualify DLJ for additional resources and programs, including Title I funding.
Dismissal: Your Car Tag is REQUIRED for Car Pickup, Parent Walkup and 13th AVE
Dismissal begins at 2:55 p.m. For the safety and security of all students, your official Driveline car tag is your dismissal credential and must be presented for car pickup, parent walk-up, and 13th Avenue dismissal.
We have always required Driveline car tags for car circle. This year, we are strengthening our dismissal procedures by ensuring this same safety process is consistently followed for all students and all dismissal methods, so every child is released only to an authorized adult, regardless of how they are picked up.
Each family was provided three additional car tags to share with family members or other authorized adults who are approved to pick up your student.
Car tags were provided at the Back-to-School Picnic. If you were unable to attend, you may pick up your Back-to-School Packet and Driveline car tag:
- Monday, August 10 | 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 11 | First Day of School — from your child’s classroom teacher at the classroom door or from the main office before dismissal.
You MUST have your car tag before dismissal.
If a person does not have an official Driveline placard, a valid physical photo ID will be required so staff can verify identity and pickup authorization before the student is released.
🌟Bartlett's Blurb🌟
Every two weeks the Bartlett's Blurb will keep you updated on things happening around campus, important assessment dates, and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) updates. See the first version of the new school year, below.

Help Us Keep the Teacher & Staff Lounge Stocked
As many of our Jamerson families prepare for back-to-school shopping, we'd like to share a simple opportunity to support our teachers and staff.
Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our PTA, families, local businesses, and community partners, we transformed the Teacher & Staff Lounge into a welcoming space where our teachers and staff can enjoy a cup of coffee, grab a snack, and take a well-deserved moment to recharge during the day. It has truly become a favorite space on campus.
As we begin a new school year, we're working to restock the lounge with the everyday items that keep it running, including coffee pods, tea, disposable coffee cups, and snacks.
We've created an Amazon Wish List to provide ideas for the types of items we use most often, but it is simply a guide. If you're already shopping at your favorite store, we gladly welcome similar donations from anywhere and you can drop them at the front office.
Please know that this is completely optional and we are grateful for the many ways our Jamerson community supports our school throughout the year.
If you'd like to help, you can view our Wish List & Donation Ideas link above.
Thank you for helping us continue to care for the incredible teachers and staff who care for our students each and every day.
—DLJ Staff Appreciation Committee

Self-Reporting Systems
Say Something
Pinellas County Schools has partnered with Sandy Hook Promise to offer the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. Say Something allows you to submit secure & anonymous safety concerns to help identify and intervene upon at-risk individuals BEFORE they hurt themselves or others. Tips made to the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System are passed along to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.
Fortify FL
Additionally, the district utilizes Fortify FL, a school-related suspicious activity reporting tool that allows Florida students and the community the ability to instantly relay information anonymously concerning unsafe, potentially harmful, dangerous, violent or criminal activities, or the threat of these activities, to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials. Fortify FL was created and funded by the 2018 Florida Legislature as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.
