ANNOUNCEMENT

We have reached the end of the first six weeks! Your kiddos are falling into the routine of school and classroom expectations. With the next six weeks starting this week, take a minute to encourage your child to always do their best. Encourage them to tell you what they are learning in class. As we continue the money unit, the best way you can help your child at home is to take out some change and be sure they can identify coins and their values, and count a group of mixed coins. We live in a debit/credit card world, so our kids aren't as accustomed to counting change as kids were in years past. Please practice at home to be sure your child is able to count and identify coins. I linked the money games from last week, as well as some new money game links at the bottom.

Each day all classes do Xtra Math during Bobcat Academy on the computer. This is a computer program that helps students have rapid math fact recall. Some of them are really struggling with this. In second grade, one of our goals in math is to learn basic addition and subtraction math facts fluently. Practicing math facts each night will greatly improve their math fact fluency. I encourage you to take five or ten minutes to practice math facts each night. Start with addition facts, when they master those, move to subtraction facts. This will help them be successful in math. I have linked some online games at the bottom to help with skills for this week.
