Our Learning Community...
A Heartfelt Thank You Dolphin Community!
What an amazing evening at our Jones Fall Festival on Friday! There is so much work that goes into making an event like this happen, much of it behind the scenes and we are so grateful to our incredible PTA and the many volunteers who took ideas and turned them into such a fun and memorable night for our community.
Events like this don't just happen. They are made possible by people who are willing to give their time, share their talents, roll up their sleeves, and jump in wherever they are needed. Thank you to everyone who helped set up and clean up, supported pumpkin decorating, sold pies, Jones merchandise, and 50/50 raffle tickets, prepared and sold food, passed out free pizza to our students, collected and distributed tickets, and helped make every activity run smoothly. Thank you to all of our families who participated in Trunk or Treat, decorated their trunks, donated candy, contributed dance floor prizes, and shared decorations to make the evening festive.
And, of course, thank you to everyone who came out, joined in the fun, and spent the evening together. Seeing our students and families laughing, dancing, playing, and making memories makes every bit of the work worthwhile!
A special thank you to Goodies Donuts, our neighborhood donut shop, and Vals Snack Shack for supporting our event. And to APEX for bringing the energy and keeping our dance party going!
One thing we especially love about the Fall Festival is how beautifully it reflects the vision we share with our PTA for an inclusive school community. While there were concessions and items available for purchase, every family could come and enjoy the evening without an entry fee or a cost to participate in the activities. Our hope is always to create opportunities for all of our families to come together, feel welcome, and simply have fun. A night of free activities, shared laughter, and community connection is something special, and it is a beautiful example of what happens when we show up for one another.
Thank you, Dolphins, for making Jones such a special place to belong. We are so fortunate to be part of a community that gives so much, celebrates together, and creates memories that our students will carry with them long after the decorations come down. We appreciate each and every one of you!
Jones Elementary Polling Location
Jones Elementary has a long history of serving as a polling location and we are proud to continue supporting our community in this important way. We are grateful to the incredible volunteers from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters who work at our site to help make the voting process possible for our community.
As we head into Election Day, we encourage all eligible voters to make a plan to vote and make their voices heard!
Voting Hours at Jones Elementary:
Saturday and Sunday: Early voting, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Monday: Early voting, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Tuesday (Election Day): 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
A quick reminder about campus access: Our auditorium is the only area of campus that will be accessible to community members coming to vote. All other areas of campus will remain closed to the public.
PrimeTime will continue operating as usual, with student check-in and check-out taking place through the café door.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we share our campus with the community.

The Jones Ofrenda
Jones is honoring Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by creating a school Ofrenda in the counseling center. An Ofrenda is a traditional altar created during Día de los Muertos, a Mexican holiday that honors and celebrates loved ones who have passed away. Rather than being a somber ritual, the ofrenda is a joyful celebration of life, memory, and connection across generations.
We are so grateful to all the students and families who shared photos, drawings, and meaningful personal items to help bring our ofrenda to life. Seeing the love, memories, and stories represented in one space is incredibly moving and reminds us how special it is to create traditions that bring our entire Jones community together.

Thank you for the leadership of our PTA Executive Board members, the volunteers that plan and execute PTA events, and all of you who participate! Check out what our PTA is up to...

Dis de los Muertos
Did you know that just 15 minutes of reading each day can make a world of difference in your child’s learning journey? Whether you are reading to your child, reading together, or listening to them read aloud, it all counts and it all matters!
Reading at home builds more than just literacy skills. It strengthens vocabulary, improves comprehension, and develops a lifelong love of learning. In fact, children who are read to daily are exposed to 1.4 million more words by the time they start school than children who are not. That kind of language exposure lays a strong foundation for both academic success and confident communication.
Just as importantly, books also help children grow socially by allowing them to step into other people’s experiences, see the world from different perspectives and practice empathy and kindness. Stories have the power to spark cultural awareness, build understanding and nurture the skills that help our students become not only successful learners, but also compassionate human beings.
Here are a few ways to make reading a special part of your routine:
Choose a cozy time and space to read together
Let your child pick the book (even if it’s the same one again!)
Ask questions about the story to boost comprehension
Model a love for reading by enjoying your own book nearby
The best part, your family has access to an endless amount of books through the internet and the Public Library. Looking for something new to read? Check out the links below for inspiration...
