School is in session next Friday, October 18th
Did You Know?
The Akron School District is part of S-CAP (Student-Centered Accountability Program). Each year, the school undergoes a yearly review process to continually improve. As part of this process, staff from the University of Colorado Denver provide a survey link for SCAP schools to give to their families, students, and educators. The family link was shared via email through Alma. Please take the time to provide us with your feedback.
Thank You!
Just a friendly reminder that picture retake day is Tuesday, October 15. Please have your student dress accordingly for pictures that morning.

School Board Meeting
At Wednesday nights school board work session, the Akron School Board enjoyed presentations from members of the Ram Squad led by Mrs. Gebauer and our Title I reading program team of Mrs. Laura Loutensock and Mrs. Bobbi Christensen. The presentations were very good and provided the board with great information about both programs.
Go Rams!
National Honor Society
The Akron School District had an awesome evening introducing our National Honor Society inductees. NHS has not been in our system in quite a few years and we are so excited to start the next chapter of recognition for our kids. Congratulations RAMS!
FCCLA Fall Conference
Forty FCCLA students and Mrs. Hall, enjoyed attending Fall Leadership Conference this week. Highlights of the day were listening to the guest speaker who was a migrant worker, abused as a child, became a gang member, was an alcoholic, quit school, went to jail, got his GED, went to college in his 30's and is now a neuroscientist. His message was:
Mistakes do not define you.
You are worthy.
Dream big!
Students rotated through 5 stations learning about family, career, community, leadership, and positive mentality. Officers, Lluvia Arteaga, Zaya Wells, Alia Winter and Tristan Hall lead the positive mentality station, that Akron was in charge of. Students also made and brought home hygiene bags to give to those in need. To end the day they watched Inside Out 2 at the Yuma Theater, enjoyed Dairy Queen treats and headed home.
FFA State Range Judging
The State Range judging contest was held yesterday in Yuma. The team placed 10th overall. Placers were Arhy Bethel (gold), top ten, Kashlee Randel (silver), Daniel Loya (bronze), and Mikenna Weers (bronze). Rylee Bacon and AnnMarie Stahn also competed. Congratulations to these hard working students.
MS Football
Monday night the 6th grade football team played in Prairie. The Rams battled the whole game and gained some great experience on the field, but were not able to come away with the win.
The MS Rams will play Haxtun on Thursday with a 6th grade game to follow.
MS Volleyball
The MS Lady Rams kicked off their week traveling to Merino. The C team won in 2, and both B and A lost in 2.
The teams play their final game of the regular season Thursday vs Haxtun at home, A, D, and E playing, then A team travels to Holyoke Saturday to compete in the LPAA tournament.
HS Volleyball
On Saturday, the Lady Rams swept the Peetz Bulldogs. Both varsity and JV played well and continue to show improvement each time they step on the court.
The Lady Rams will play again on Friday, October 11th in Haxtun, starting at 4pm.
HS Football
The Akron JV team battled against the Haxtun Bulldogs on Monday night. The game came down to the wire, with a defensive hold to keep the Bulldogs from converting the 2 point attempt, bringing the Rams a 28-26 victory.
The varsity will travel to Haxtun on Friday. Game time is at 7:30. Come out and support the Rams!
