Message from Your Principal
Dear Garfield Families,
This week we were grateful to welcome families to our 2nd Quarter IDAC (Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council) & Coffee Talk. We enjoyed meeting new families, reviewing demographic data and SART survey results, and engaging in thoughtful conversations about what is working well at our school and where we can continue to grow. The feedback shared was both encouraging and constructive, and it helps guide our work as we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community for every child. If you would like to join us for our 3rd Quarter IDAC Coffee Talk, please save the date for March 12 at 8:00 a.m. More details will be shared as we get closer.
We hope your family enjoys the three-day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. We are thankful for Dr. King’s perseverance in the fight for equal rights, and we honor his legacy by continuing to work toward a school community rooted in respect, equity, and belonging for all.
On Friday, January 23, your child’s report card will be sent home. We encourage you to take time to review it together and celebrate your child’s growth. Some helpful questions you might ask include:
- What is something you are most proud of this quarter?
- What feels easier now than it did at the beginning of the year?
- What is one goal you would like to work on next?
- How do you feel about your learning in reading and math?
These conversations help children reflect on their progress and take ownership of their learning. If you have any clarifying questions or concerns, we encourage you to partner with your child’s teacher so we can continue supporting your child’s success together.
With appreciation,
Methinee Bozeman
