Dear Dorr Families,
As a Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) school, we are committed to building strong relationships with our students, families, and community. One of our goals at Dorr Elementary is to ensure that every student has a trusted adult they can turn to when they need help, support, or someone to talk to.
This weekend, we encourage you to take a few moments to connect with your child and ask, “If you ever needed help or someone to talk to at school, which adult at Dorr Elementary would you go to?”
We want every student to feel safe, supported, and comfortable advocating for themselves. Whether they are in the classroom, at lunch, in specials, out at recess, or anywhere else throughout the school day, we want our students to know that there are caring adults throughout our building who are always ready to listen, help, and support them.
As always, please know you can always reach out to me if you or your child ever needs anything.
In partnership,
Andrew Augustin

Distinguished Artist - Aubrie Miller
Dorr Elementary has a Distinguished Artist Program in which student
artwork is on display like an art gallery for the school year. Each year 9
students are chosen as a Distinguished Artist. The distinguished artist is a
student who is responsible in art, shows their creativity and works hard
on all projects. Ms. Corcoran chooses 3 to 4 pieces of artwork in which
the students followed directions and completed the project adding their
creativity. A committee of staff members then votes on the projects to choose the winner.
Congratulations Aubrie Miller!

Picture Retakes
Picture retake day is Thursday Nov 5th. If you missed picture day, here is your chance! Any student that was absent on picture day should get their picture taken even if they are not purchasing a package. If your student did get their picture taken and you want them redone, please send the original photo package with your student on Nov 5th.
Happening In The Halls
Students Get Cultural Lesson
Recently our 3rd graders visited Camp Jijak where students learn directly from the Gun Lake Tribe about their history, traditions, and way of life. Students learned about traditional foods and customs, explored traditional sports, and more! It was a really great way to help children understand and appreciate the Native American community connected to their local area.
New Local Business Donates To Dorr Elementary!
The golden arches of McDonalds have been hoisted high in the sky in Dorr and students at Dorr Elementary are feeling the McLove! Student leaders were invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and welcome McDonalds to the neighborhood. During the ceremony, Dorr Elementary was presented with a $2500.00 check from the owner of the restaurant. We're "Lovin It" that McDonalds came to Dorr and look forward to partnering with them in the future!
