Cornwall School News 5/15/26
Message from the Principal
Our 5th graders weren't at school this week. At least, they weren't at our school. Starting on Monday morning, and ending today just before lunch, they participated in a long-standing Cornwall tradition at the Keewaydin Environmental Education Center (KEEC). Together with 5th graders from Bridport, Shoreham, Weybridge, and a school from Massachusetts, out students experienced “sleepaway” camp focused on the environment and our role in caring for it.
As I enjoyed a quiet moment watching the mist on Lake Dunmore early this morning, before the ringing of the wake-up gong, I was so grateful for this magical experience for our kids.
With gratitude,
Nadya

Summer School Update
Resources that we have used in the past to offer summer programming at multiple ACSD schools will be more directly focused toward providing academic supports where needed this summer. We are looking into ways to provide academic support opportunities for students from multiple schools at a central location. District leaders are actively working on this planning.
This means that we will not be able to offer the Cornwall summer program in the format that we have for the last few years.
If your student is a candidate for additional summer academic supports, we will reach out when we have more details.

Snapshots from Cornwall School
5th Graders at KEEC!
5th graders slept in cabins, ate their meals communally, learned through daily “investigations”, performed skits, tracked their food waste, cooked burgers over a tin can, contributed to the camp community by completing jobs, hiked, explored caves, fished, got soaked and dry again, repeat. New friendships formed and they learned to trust the KEEC counselors. This week, our 5th graders lived for 5 days outside the comfortable bubble of Cornwall School!

Ways to help Cornwall School
Beach toys, baseballs and mitts
We are replenishing our playground options. If you have gently used beach toys for the sandbox, baseball mitts or baseballs to donate, we'll take 'em!
Starts and seeds needed
Our vegetable gardens are ready for planting! If you have extra starts (already hardened off, please!) or seeds, we will gladly take them.
Gently used shoes and clothes needed!
- Pants & Shorts - size 8-10, 10-12, and 14
- Sneakers size 1, 2, and larger
Laundry!
We have many shared winter items that have taken a beating this mud season. If laundry is your thing, grab a bag from the school, wash and dry it, return (ideally in a clean bag) and we will store it until next winter! Or until the next snowfall!
