Principal's Letter

February 22, 2026

Good Afternoon Emerson Families,

Last week our staff was fortunate to have an Apple Learning Specialist visit our school to share ideas and supports with our teachers, and to help provide engaging experiences for our students! Our staff engaged with additional features available on our iPads to differentiate for our learners and our staff had practical takeaways that they can incorporate into their lessons. Ms. Ortiz’s class worked with Mrs. Lovero and our Apple Learning Specialist to begin exploring input, output, and creating a circuit during their STEAM class. Our kindergarten classes went on a shape hunt, and learned how to record their voice and observations to share their learning. We had a fun time!

We would like to encourage all families to continue to support our Kid’s Heart Challenge! Mrs. Macias will also have an attendance raffle for PBIS Attendance winners who will receive a free meal from Raising Canes. We were so happy to be back outside for recess this week!

This week we invite your child to participate in our STEAM spirit week, as we prepare for our Family STEAM night next week on Thursday, March 5th! Please join us with:

Super Wacky Monday 2/23

Wear your clothes inside out, have a fun hair day, or mismatch your socks!

Team Tuesday 2/24

Wear your favorite sports jersey to represent your favorite team!

Engineering Experts Wednesday 2/25

If you can dream it, be it! Wear your Pajamas!

Art Thursday 2/26

Wear bright/neon colors, patterns, and geometric shapes!

Mighty Tigers Friday 2/27

Wear Emerson gear OR blue and yellow to represent our Tigers!

Have a wonderful week,

Jean

¡Ponte tu pijama!

Jueves de Arte 2/26

Viernes de Tigres Poderosos 2/27

PBIS February Focus

For the month of February, Emerson will be raising money for the Kids Heart Challenge. We also wanted to incorporate it into PBIS by focusing on teamwork and loving our community. All month, students will be participating in various activities as a whole school or in the classroom. They will learn how to work as a team with their peers and strengthen our community.

Securly: Internet content filtering

D100 has implemented in-school and at-home Internet content filtering on all D100-issued student devices. Securly, the new content filter, can scan/block/log Internet activity such as:

· Searches

· Keywords

· Website Access

· Google Drive content

· Keyword/searches potentially related to self-harm

When any of the above activities are flagged by Securly, a notification is sent to the appropriate D100 administrator for follow-up. Some notifications, such as self-harm, will result in follow-up with the student’s parent or guardian.

Parents/guardians can view their children’s internet activity through the Securly Home app (available for iPhone/Android/Web).

How does the Securly Home app work?

  • First, be sure to add noreply@securly.com in your email application so Securly’s emails don’t accidentally go to your spam folder. Note the spelling of Securly.
  • Beginning tomorrow, Friday, December 3, parents/guardians will automatically receive a welcome email to the account we have on file with simple setup instructions that include:
    • Login setup
    • Downloading the Securly Home app for your device
  • Once the app is installed, you may refer to the attached tutorials on how to use the app as well as the following links:
    • Video Tutorials:
      • Intro to Securly Home: https://youtu.be/vW7FWIHE_vw (en)
      • Intro to Securly Home: https://youtu.be/svPeVF3N8qE (sp)
      • Detailed use of Securly Home: https://vimeo.com/347224788 (en/sp sub)
  • Securly Home setup is required in order to receive notifications about your child’s internet activity.

What if I need help?

  • An email help request to Securly can be made directly within the app under Help>Support.

D100 is committed to providing its students a safe digital learning environment, on and off campus. While no content filter can block 100% of inappropriate content, good user judgment can help fill the gap.

· Acceso a sitios web

Note cómo se escribe Securly.
      • Introducción a Securly Home: https://youtu.be/svPeVF3N8qE (sp)
