DMS Community Newsletter 26/27
Sem. 1, Week 6 - September 13, 2026
🔷DMS Dismissal Schedule: Wed. @ 1:30 - Mon., Tues., Thurs. & Fri. @ 2:30!🔷
Dear Defender Families,
We welcome the cooler weather this week. It is still important that students stay hydrated. Bringing a water bottle that can be refilled as needed is important.
School Site Council
Congratulations to our newest elected School Site Council members:
Student Members: Maple Moyer and Camila Hernandez Gonzalez
Parent/Guardian Members: Marissa Savo and Moamer Shurrab
Teacher Members: Tara Fry, Crystal Taylor, and Kimberly Kremling
Please note that all families and community members are welcome to attend SSC meetings, even if you are not an elected member. We value your voice and involvement in supporting our students and school.
Attendance:
Just a reminder that after 10 absences, students will require a doctor's note to excuse additional absences.
Tardy notifications are being sent to families once a student reaches 3 tardies. Please see the tardy policy flyer below for more details.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off Reminders
Please continue to use caution and awareness during drop-off and pick-up times. To help traffic move safely and efficiently, please pull all the way forward in the drop-off/pick-up loop before allowing students to exit or enter your vehicle. This helps create space for additional cars and keeps traffic flowing.
Mark Your Calendar
- October 13: Make-up Picture Day
Please Note: Any middle school student attending a high school football game must be accompanied by an adult.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can help our Defenders have a successful school year!

Crossing Guard Update
We Need Your Assistance!
We were recently informed that our DMS Crossing Guard has moved to another site, and we are looking for someone to fill this important position.
If you are interested in helping keep our students safe during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, please consider applying! The position is a great way to support our school community while helping our Defenders safely navigate to and from campus.
Please visit TVUSD Employment to apply online.
In the meantime, please review pedestrian safety with your students. Remind them to always use the crosswalk and to cross only when the traffic signal indicates that it is safe to cross. Please encourage students to stay alert, look for vehicles, and avoid distractions while crossing.
Thank you for helping us keep our Defenders safe!

TVUSD Dress Code - BP 5132
Temecula Valley Unified School District believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. Student attire and grooming must permit the student to participate in learning without posing a risk to the health or safety of any student or school district personnel. The school district is responsible for seeing that student attire does not disrupt school activity or contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student.
- Students must wear clothing including a shirt with pants or skirt, or the equivalent (for example dresses, leggings, or shorts) and shoes.
- Clothing shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments and buttocks. No underwear, undergarments, or clothing that is comparable to undergarments (e.g, bathing suits that resemble the same coverage of an undergarment) may be visible at any time. Clothing may not be see-through or mesh if underwear is visible underneath.
- Attire may not display images that are violent and/or depict drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, or promote any unlawful act. Additionally, attire may not contain imagery, words or acronyms associated with hate speech, profanity, pornography, or any promotion and/or endorsement of violence, alcohol or drug use.
Dress Code Enforcement
No list of dress and appearance guidelines for students can be written that will anticipate all potential dress and grooming extremes. In the case of questionable dress or grooming that is not specifically covered in the list above, the administration will make the final decision. Appropriate action will be taken at that time, and when necessary, contact will be made seeking parental cooperation and assistance.
School-directed changes to a student’s attire or grooming should be the least restrictive and disruptive to a student’s school day. Any school dress code enforcement actions should minimize the potential loss of education time. Administration and enforcement of the dress code shall be gender neutral and consistent. When a dress code violation occurs, the student will be required to change into proper attire. Continued violations of the dress code will be considered defiance and will be referred to administration for disciplinary action.
DMS is Gum Free!!!
Gum is not permitted on campus. Students chewing gum will be assigned Gum Club and receive a discipline point for each infraction.
Gum Club – Students will eat in a designated area under supervision, and serve detention for 3 days. If a student fails to show up for Gum Club, they will receive additional days.
